Went though a box of halves last night. No silver, but I got both 2007s for the Dansco, the first I've seen this year.

OK, I've gone through $7,500 in halves this week and only found 7 40%er's (and 1 Mexican Peso). Really sucked.

I switched over to dimes (about 5 boxes worth) and found

    1 Mercury Dime
    7 90% Roosevelts
    1 1953 Canadian Dime (80% silver)

I also cracked open a box of nickels. I'm less than half way through it, but already found

    Handful of Pre 1960 nickels
    1 1945 S
1 Buffalo (on the end of a roll, I'm saving it for my son to open)

Had the day off today, went through:

    $200 in halves, nothing.
$1000 in dimes (clear cellophane wrappers), 3 90% Roosevelts, 1 Mercury.
$100 in nickels, a few pre-60, nothing too exciting.
    $75 in pennies, 4 wheaties.

Can't say it's been a hugely productive day...

It's a national bank that's been mostly helpful to me for what I've needed. They haven't charged me yet, mostly because the Merchant Teller says to go through her. Not sure if he's just oblivious or what... That said, I went to a different branch and ordered more coin through them, and it sounds like they get their shipments on a different day, which works out. I can't really take more than 4 boxes at a time anyway...

I couldn't find on their website anywhere about coin roll services, though I did see a bit here and there about merchant currency services... As I understand it, they do have a fee schedule of some sort for ordering coins (at least that's what it sounded like)...

Oh well. Haven't charged me thus far, so hopefully, as long as I don't overly abuse it, they'll continue ordering cases for me free of charge...

    vwap,

still get the fee schedule. You can even just ask teller for it. They are required to hand it out upon request. It's usually 1 to 2 pages long. I'm almost certain that there will be a line item on their for rolled coins (I've yet to see one without that listing). There's always a fee for non-customers and it always says free for customers.

Since they aren't charging you, I wouldn't say anything, but if they ever actually pursue, you want that schedule in hand to immediately respond.

I do it all the time in an attempt to fill out my Ike/SBA book.. I've only really gotten "large" amounts of Ikes at one particular bank, usually about $100 at a time..

I always ask for Ikes and Kennedys. Get a lot of halves.
Might get one Ike every couple of months if I am lucky.

Bought the 1990 Commemorative Proof at the Eisenhower Center in Abilene KS two years ago. This year they didnt have them & said that they cant get them anymore.

The Ikes are pretty coins but they are big!

I carry an Eisenhower in my pocket for the sole purpose of asking for them at the various banks I go to. Not surprising, when asked, many tellers initally respond by saying that they only got the Jefferson Dollars in right now, but they should be getting the Eisenhowers in few months.

This will get even more frustrating when they really do release the Manganese Brass Eisenhower dollar. Again, having an example in hand tends to save quite a bit of time in explaining what I'm asking for.

I also have the problem where the tellers will repeatedly tell me they don't have any, then one day I get the head teller of the same bank telling me that they've had a few dozen of those for years and wondered when they would finally get rid of them.

Four boxes of halves last night --

3 - Franklins (One of them a 1951S AU FBL)
    7 - 90% Kennedy
    1 - 40% Kennedy
    4 - Proofs (82, 85, 89, 90)
    4 - 2002+

That's a 0.633% keeper rate.. And even fewer (2 proofs) filled out holes in the books... But I'll take'em any day over a series of "empty" boxes/rolls (which really sucks..).

So, what do you do with 4 boxes of halves when you're done?

    Bag'em (in bags of $500), take'em to the bank, deposit'em.. :)

Are you saying that you searched $4,000 in half dollars (I don't know how many are in a box)?
But, stiil, #4 proofs seems above average.

$2000 in halves, $500 per box.

I think I average a proof every two boxes or so..

This may be a dumb question, but I need my hand held lol. What kind of bag? Do you need to get a special bag from the bank? Also, do you just take them back to the bank where you get the boxes? Thanks for the help.

Different banks have different rules about what they'll accept. I actually take them to a different bank than the one I get them from. The specific branch I take it to accepts coin in pre-counted, pre-sorted bags. Other branches of the same bank will not accept bagged coins.

My bank will give me canvas bags to use. When they're out of those, they'll give me plastic coin bags to use -- these are heavy-duty bags that have a tamper-proof seal so that once it's closed, it's closed until someone cuts it open.

Thanks for the comments. I'll have to take a look at the coin again tonight. If my memory is correct it may actually be a KN, though quite worn.
