I think I'm gonna take a little break from roll searching. It's becoming an addiction.

 

After this week, I'm taking a break until October, November, or winter vacation.

 

Yeah, well you have to focus on classes.

Seriously, don't **** up like me. I'm looking for another job right now, and without a bachelors degree and a good GPA, there's just nothing out there. Keep your head in the game.

I pay every day for the mistakes I made, because I have to wake up and go to a dead end job that I hate. Don't do that to yourself.

 

I stay home now, but when I worked I made a great salary for being able to type fast (Legal Secretary). But, after a while, I wanted something better. No degree and it's difficult to make a change. It's strange--I tried Executive Secretary in the private world and they didn't want a legal secretary . . .

Ok, I'm off topic.

 

Getting back to roll searching. I've got rolls sitting around but I'm so anal that I've got to get my notes, etc. in order first. You know, the articles, info stuff, receipts (I'm a tree killer). I'm so anal that I have to have the ABA's color coded folders for the notes based on coin type. I hope to have my desk setup soon so I can get back to the hunt.

 

I'm in retail, I'll take anything else... last derailing post here... how many wpm?

BTW, I still have a box of pennies sitting here to go through... ugh.

 

85+ wpm plus the ability to type from tape transcription

 

On Saturday, I picked up two boxes of halves:
Box 1: shutout
Box 2: 2 40%ers

I also drove all over (many miles!) and visited banks in outlying areas. Found only about $28 in halves: Shutout.

I'm seriously thinking of taking a break.....I don't find much silver lately in boxes, and in my last $1250 in loose and CWR, I've found a total of 7 40%ers. Others in my area are getting there first (I hear all the time that someone just cleaned them out).

I got a bag of dimes today to change it up.....

 

I just started looking at halves. Everytime I make a transaction I ask the cashier if he/she has any 50c pieces. They looked confused (mainly the young). I hold my hand up and make an ok sign with the approximate size of the coin. Sometimes they catch on and sometimes they pull out the Presidential. Any such 'doe staring in the light' situations for you guys?

 

Carry one with you. I found a pocket piece while roll searching and basically inherited it.

 

I tried to get my mom to use a beat up ike once, she was afraid to...didn't want to get the look...no problem using $2s everyone took them.

 

Carrying a sample is a good idea.

Do you think with so many people melting their silver coins the coins held by collectors/hoarders will draw a higher resale premium in years to come--meaning supply and demand?

 

took a jog down to the bank and got 5$s worth of penny rolls. yeilded 2 (+18 free) rolls coppers, 1952 wheat, 1979 gem, 3 canadians, couple minor errors (grease) and 3 rainbow keepers ...always worth it

 

Getting a box of quarters, 2 boxes of pennies tomorrow will post my results

 

This last batch of 8 boxes of halves from this weekend yeilded 5 40%ers. I was thinking about taking a break for a while but I screwed up and ordered 5 more for this weekend. Opps???

 

I just found this forum today and decided I'd give the halves idea a try. I called around and found a bank that had some. I got 10 rolls ended up with on 40%. Probably a full roll or 2 of 2001s but I have no real use for them
