My sister made me get two more boxes of dimes... these were the old paper rolls because I used a different TD bank (This one is in DE instead of PA?) and I guess they have a different supplier. 3 silvers in those two boxes. She abandoned me halfway through the search, haha.

Hi everybody, I'm new to the board, but I love following this thread. I've learned alot, but haven't had much luck in working out how to get boxes of coins and dumping them on another bank. So much to do and so little time.

Oh yeah, with all this craziness with dimes, I forgot about the box of pennies I did today. Lots of copper (More than half copper!) with about 10 wheats and 2009's. Amongst the wheats were a 1909 (No S or VDB, unfortunately) a 1919, and a 1925. The rest were Depression era and later.

    Those Mercury's are too cool.

Also thanks for the welcome, Kangayou.

Did one other box of pennies cause I had nothing to do before going to sleep. About 15 wheaties, the earliest of which were a 1915 and a 1918, a whole lotta copper, and one guy really sick of roll searching after doing 5 boxes today.

did a few rolls of pennies and nickels. i also got 1 roll of dimes, because people were having luck today. :D

first the dimes. no silver, but got 3 that are off center. its very noticeable, but not sure if they are off centered enough. my girl took the good camera home, so i will have to get pictured in the morning.

next the nickels. no silver, all jeffersons. got an upgrade for my 1977-D, for my found in circulation set. also an upgrade for my 1995-P, this thing is BU and so nice. also filled a hole with a 1975-D. i get excited when i fill a hole now that i am getting close to completed!

last the pennies. no wheats. i got a 1960-D and something is up with the mm. i got to check it out, closer. got a nice shinny 1974-D, that looks to be MS.

but what i am really excited about is the 1980-P cent. its the most toned coin i have! the only "rainbow" toned coin i have is another lincoln cent, and its just on the edge of the coin. this one is all over the reverse and on 3/4th of the obverse. its got a beautiful electric blue, with neon greens, reds, and pinks! its just so nice, it looks like its lit up by neon, when shined in light.

sorry for being overly excited about such a coin. i just love toned coins and really don't have any. i was so mad the girl took the camera! but first thing in the morning, i am going to figure out how to get a good picture of the toning.

    3 boxes of halves yesterday

    Box 1 - 1 40%
    Box 2 - 2 40%
    Box 3 - 2 40% and 1 '64

The most interesting thing to me is that in 2 of the boxes there were coins that I have definitely seen before. They were both multlated coins with different holes drilled and all scratched up with initials on them. No doubt about it that I've seen them before, but all three boxes had silver...

For the first month or two I was returning coins to a bank that is serviced by Loomis but was shipping their coins to Bank of America who is serviced by Dunbar so I think that is what happened.

I still don't understand how you guys get multiple boxes per day. Do you order them all in advance? Wachovia made it very apparent to me that you cannot just go in and ask for a box, well you can, but you can't have it until the next day, basically. So how do you do it?

Welcome, I am kind of new too, but I followed this thread for a long time. It took me a while to finally ask for a box of coins. I started with a bank I have always gone to by work and they were reluctantly helpful at first, but quickly became less than helpful. I then tried a bank near my house and they are more than happy to order whatever I want. I have been dumping at my wife's credit union which works out well.

I caught so many new rolls of the 2010 D, that I am dumping the loose ones I get. I really don't see much future in storing these, since they will have the highest mintage to date.

You go join a better bank. Screw Wachovia, go join TD. They'll help you out and get you whatever you ask if you have an account.

Haha ok, you just make it seem so easy, "I just ran to the bank and got another box of dimes this afternoon". I have to call, or go in and ask, and then go back the next morning. Oh well. I do plan on opening a new account just haven't decided where yet. I'm probably going to bother PNC again to see if they got some more halves, I vaguely remember the head teller mumbling something like "pain in the a$$ and more friday".

Anyone know if the shields are going to be the new Lincoln Memorial, or are they just a 1 year run?

Shield is the permanent new design. 2009 was the one year run, with the commemorative reverses.

And Slammy, it really is that easy with TD. I just drop in and I can get anything besides halves with ease. I have to order my halves from all but one TD bank I know of, which happens to be about 5 miles down the street from where I work... they order 4 boxes a month, one a week, for me.

Almost every bank will have boxes and boxes of every coin denomination except for halves. The way I get halves is go in and ask them to order them and I go and pick them on the day(s) that I know they'll be there.

Wachovia telling you that you can't have them until the next day is probably because they are ordering them specifically for you and they won't be there until the next day.

TD is becoming more and more appealing. I can't ditch Wachovia though, because they are the only bank with a branch within walking distance of where I go to college.

Yacorie, it is because of their vault policy, or thats what they tell me. They say they are only allowed to bring things across the lobby at a certain time during the morning when the vault is opened, and once the vault is opened they cannot go and take more out of it. Like the day before I called when they opened to ask if I could pick up a box of dimes and two boxes of pennies, and I got another preaching of how I would have to get them the next day, because they had already opened the vault. Not quite sure. Also not sure if it is only this branch, or EVERY Wachovia's policy. If they were ordering them just for me I'd have to wait a week, that's what I have to do with the halves at least.

I searched 10 rolls of halves and found 1 40%.

I think most Wachovias have that policy. TD can open the vault at any time, so it's a bit different there. Also, do you have a job? Split your direct deposit however you please between both banks and use one as a "savings" account. Even if you don't work, don't ditch Wachovia completely, leave your account open and use it as your dump bank, haha. I wouldn't think they charge anything for checking?

I picked up 2 rolls and 4 singles (half dollars) yesterday and got one 40% and three others I needed for my collection. A very good day for so few coins.

I've been using the bank that I've been going to the longest as my dump bank, since they won't lift a finger and order halves for me, and splitting the dumps between there and the Wachovia in NJ that is a pain to park at (I hate metered parking). The Wach I go to for coins is in PA. I do have a job, but I don't work enough/make enough in check to do direct deposit, but I have money from a CD I closed that I need to do something with after I am done playing with it this summer with halves, pennies, dimes, etc...So I have another month or so before I'd like to open another account. I have the free checking at Wach, and they have really been pushing their way 2 save accounts.
