You mean the 2005 P&D coins, not the animals, right? Are you in the U.S.?

    Faked out!

Got my first box of halves in nearly two weeks and the first roll I open has one bright white edge. I though, COOL, this is going to be a good box. Not only was that the only keeper in the whole box, but it was only a 40%er that looked like a 90%er.

At least it wasn't a shutout.

lol, for some reason that really made me laugh. maybe its the cough medicine the doctor has me on?(i guess i know why they make rap songs about it).

yea i mean the nickels. i guess people are hording them, because the design is nice or it reminds them of buffalo nickels? either way i am searching a lot of nickel rolls and have not seen one.

Picked up a laminated 43S nickel plus a 39 and some other pre 55's out of 40$ in nickels.

Shutout on dimes (again). I think I am going in circles.

What was written on the bust? I am just across the river in NYC and have written on a few to see if i'm recycling my old halves

I'm in the region as well... So, if you search nickel rolls and ever get N.F. String & Sons bank rolls opened on one end and taped shut, might be from my activity. ;)

The RedBook shows that there were over 300 million 1973-S Lincoln Memorial Cents minted for circulation.

I couldn't really make it out too well but it looked like number-number I think one had 2-11 or something. I found a couple with dots too I think.

I just received my first shutout ever... ah well. Filled/upgraded a few spots in my album. Seems that silver might be harder to come by? But then there are these posts with a dozen walkers from one box. How do I get one of those?!!

A good heads up! I generally go with cents and halves (found my avatar that way), I mark all my half rolls with an "x" and occasionally mark lower grade halves to make sure they're not getting recycled to me.

Doesn't sounds like me. Funny enough, the only silver proof half (a 69S) I found came in a box with lots of marked coins. A few other silvers in that box too.

Marking lower grade halves is a good idea, I hate seeing a mark across the face of one that is in good shape.:thumb:

First one ever? Wow! How many boxes have you opened? I have had two lengthy streaks of shutouts (9 in a row and 13 in a row) and on average, 50% of the boxes I crack open are shutouts.

I'd love to find a dozen walkers in a box as well....I've found 9 total in 13 months of serious searching (158 boxes plus several thousand dollars worth of loose and CWR).

    Hi Bob,

I've NEVER found a Liberty half and I've been through about 50 boxes this year. I've increased my weekly box count to 5, so that will be over 250 boxes a year.

BTW, I've never been shutout on a box. Had a few with just 1 or 2 40%ers, but never none at all.

So far in box 1 or 5 this week, halfway thru box 1, 2 40% and 3 NIFC's----

That amazes me that you have not had any shutouts......

    Wow.

I just checked my record and I have had 78 shutouts (out of 158 boxes).

If you ever run across a coin that is one you want to keep, but it has been marked with a permanent marker or Sharpie, the mark will come right off with regular rubbing alcohol---and it won't affect the finish of the coin whatsoever. Just dab the coin with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol and rinse it with distilled water. Try it!

I've had way more shutouts than I have had boxes with silver. I'm in the northeast though and it sounds like that is par for the course. My best finds have always been from CWR.

Got 3 more boxes from 2 banks today about 30 miles away, and again the boxes were stamped with the identical stamp and identifcation information from Dunbar...

Box 1 - 5 Barack Obama Half dollars (gold in color with sticker on front) - keeping these for gifts for my fellow haters, 1-40%, 2 S mint coins and FINALLY and 1970S Silver Proof. The coin is in tip top shape for being through circulation at least once but obviously has marks on it now.

    Box 2 - Shutout

Hopefully I can get Wachovia to order a box for me tomorrow. If not I will keep going to banks that I do not have accounts with, because so far they seem to care more about getting money from people.
