Welcome back Bob. Don't worry, I did not do any searching while you were gone except for the two finds (one from a banker that I posted and one from a teller that contacted me). To celebrate my upcoming aniversary, I decided to take a break lol. I cut back on my boxes too and only searched 2 in the last week and half which were both shutouts. In my last 23 boxes only 5 have contained any silver and 3 seems to be the number...really tailed off.

Could be---supposed to be a lime olive green across the entire face of the coin in a diagonal line.

    Where are you located?

    Good.

I searched about a half a box of cents today. Other than some copper, my only finds were two wheats (49 and 51), a really nice 1973S and 1982 Un Centesimo from Panama (very interesting coin).

Hope to get a box of halves tomorrow.

How do you get boxes of halves? Both of my banks have made it seem like a big hassle. I have to call one friday morning to see if they can do it, and the one I asked before never even got back to me.

Personally, I think calling makes it too easy for them to just say no they can't. I have two different banks ordering for me and both happen to be Dunbar supplied. In both cases, the head teller/manager was honest and said she didn't know if they could order them. It took them all of about 1 minute to pull out a sheet and see that they could in fact order boxes of halves, 500 bucks at a time. They had no problem doing it.

I've also had other banks tell me that they would need to charge me to get halves and/or they couldn't do it. A few of them also checked a sheet so I don't think they were lying to me.

I'm hoping Wachovia can do it. The supervisor or whatever checked, and said she couldn't get into the system and to call back friday when they place their order, so we shall see!

Ah was olive green, but not diagonal, was straight across Kennedy's ear from side to side. I'm near Chicago.

No silver in the last box, did find a proof though, pretty circulated. A few others 2002 and forward though.

Possibly stolen? I can definitely see some kid breaking into a house (or his dad's coins) and breaking them out of cases to just spend.

73 is a good year for proofs in circulation, due to the introduction of the clad IKE.

The 73S was not a proof, by the way....just an ordinary business strike. However, it was in AU condition, that is why I mentioned it. I really like the older cents, they are much different than the zinc ones of today.

Just got one roll from the bank when I hit the ATM. Ended up having 1-63 Franklin, a bicentennial Silver proof and 18 NIFC coins that are BU (i'm guessing). They look like they were cracked out of plastic and put in the roll. They range from 2004 to 2009.

On a side note. Is anyone who typically gets Dunbar boxes counting the coins? I've been counting the coins in each box because I wante to check the accuracy of the coin machine where I'm cashing them in. The last 5 boxes have each been short by exactly 1 coin. I was just wondering what others have found. After 5 consecutive boxes with 1 short I was starting to wonder just how much money they would be making by shorting every box 1 coin in every denomination.

Thats a good one. Who is going to sit and count 2,500 cents? Tricky.

$40 in nickels: 2x'40, 1x'41, 1x'51, 1x'59D, 1x'68 Canadian beaver. Half were bank roll and didn't produce much, half were customer wrap and produced the majority of the picks. I keep anything with an 'S' mm, reasonable color toning, pre-'64 or '05 bisons.

I too keep anything with an S mint mark and actually keep anything prior to 1970 and oddities etc... but why are you keeping the 05 Bisons?

Got $80 of kennedy's from the bank, found 3 40%, 2-69' and 1-66 (1966 is kind of a weird year that you dont see alot of in any coin).

I like them, look for the U3 error and just don't find them much in circulation. Only found 5 in $40 worth today. I'm sure they are just being horded by others still, but I might as well take some too since I like them and they will only keep degrading in circulation. :smile
