Yes, I have a redbook, but it is from 1995 from when Grandma and Grandpa first started giving me Ikes, Kennedy's, SBA's and every British coin known in existence, 1800's to today at least. I have Krause too but it's from 1997 or something...I need to update, I know, but it's still useful.

I did look at a website about Ike varieties, but I couldn't figure out if I had anything special. I used to be able to figure out type I and type II when I was like 12 or so, but I don't remember the difference anymore. I've been meaning to check on that this evening. I think I'm going to go back to Univest to get the last 5 rolls of halves they have too once I exchange the 4 I took today for cash.

I couldn't get out today, so rolled a few and looked at some 2009 D Log Cabins (LP1).

Found a few that looked like doubling in the logs with die cracks in Lincoln's forehead as described by "Wexler". Looking for a better magnification right now. Probably use the scanner.

    ten rolls of Kennedys

All clad. Oh well. 17 Bicentenial, Get this....9- 1982-1982 Gem BU. Pretty good finds. Lots of 1972. Have not checked for doubles. 1 Brinks bank roll of GEM BU, from the bank, 1998 Die Crack, heavily polished. Lovely, with a noticeable effect on the mint mark. 55 dollars of hand rolled clad and copper pennies, still to go through. Mama loves Kennedy halves. filled a jar. I am a hero today in mama's eyes.:smile

I also have found the '08S.

I'm sure Bobbeth has found most of them already.

I hope to move to halves by year's end. The new cents, especially the 2009 with all the error varieties is taking a lot of time. There must be 20 log cabin error varieties already.

Same goes for the LP3(?)---I think this is the reverse with Lincoln sitting on a log studying a book. There are at least 10 different "extra thumb" varieties---it seems like someone is finding a new variation every week. When this "extra thumb" variant was first discovered, they were selling on EBay for $20-30 each---now you're lucky to get a dollar for them----

Drats ! Because I found a few Log Cabins with a long die crack running completely across the forehead. Maybe I better get them listed quick ?
The problem is identifying the variety with Wexlers. I can't find the pics of the die crack and other PUPs. Just the log doubling, which is very small.

I think I need a USB microscope ? Or better glasses, LOL

A USB microscope is a MUST if you're going to take close ups for EBay auctions---and a 30X jeweler's loupe just to see this tiny variations and errors---

    A Year of roll searching

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

My pictures are not great but I pulled out all my halves and piled them on the poker table. July will be one year of searching so I am taking some time off to celebrate lol. The piles around the table are by years and all the ones in the albums and 2x2's are the Walkers, Franklins, and Proofs. This does not include the one my kids have in their Kennedy albums.

Ballpark numbers: 1050 40%'s, 260 90%'ers, 3 commems, 8 Foreign halves/pennies, 74 proofs, several hundred modern halves, 650 IKE's. This is what is on the table and everything on the table either came at face value from searching, free from my kids getting stuff at coin club meetings or via face value trades.

I am getting them all out to place my best in the new Dansco. I will also be looking to trade for any proofs I am missing and any post 1992 silver proofs to fill out the book.

Just thought I would share as there has been a big drop off lately and I do not expect to find a lot more in the future.

Wow, you did great for only taking one year. Have you put a number to what they would be worth at melt on the stuff you found from roll searching and about how many rolls/boxes did you search a week.

I did the math a couple pages back.

Having my first big find, but unfortunately, it's not silver. No silver so far, with about... 15 rolls left. A lot of NIFC though.

    7 2005-P, 12 2005-D, 1 2001-S proof, and 1 '68.

I have loupes at 4x, 10x, 30x, etc. I have been able to scan at 2400 dpi and increase magnification to 1000x on my HD monitor. I can get it so close it breaks up. 400x gives a really good detail. But then there is the crop and pasting, etc. Learning to get decent images with a 7.0 mega pixel cam with macro focus. But lighting is tricky, because I just cannot see the LCD all that well.

Still, I want better. LOL I have the microscope on my wish list.

My wife picked up $50 in CWR at a bank yesterday. One roll had 7 40%, one had 1 40%, and the rest nothing. 7 of any type of silver is by far the most I've found in one roll, so that was pretty cool...

Man, with luck like that, she could buy ALL my rolls. LOL

    Great find !

So I got another $70 in halves, and found nothing great, just 1971-2003 in really amazing shape, like almost un-touched, kind of amazing compared to the way some of the others looked. Ltrain I think you were definitely right about the Northeast. One bank had $41 worth, but she flat out told me that people at the bank had already looked through them to pick out the silver...

I can't find territories, state parks, or shield pennies anywhere either...I'm starting to get discouraged...

You can buy the new shield pennies on EBay, but be warned they are selling at twice face value ($50 or so for a $25 box, plus shipping). I went to my bank last week to get 4 boxes for searching, and 2 of the boxes turned out to be all mint rolled uncirculated 2010 P Shields----

    Slamster,
I am finding tons of shield pennies in bank rolled boxes. So far all are "P" as I am in the east.
