could any of you roll searchers spare some knowledge on how to tell if a "genuine" original roll from Pre 1964 has been truly unsearched ? Is there any signs to look for???? Feel free to PM me because I am really interested.

    thanks

Sweet find! Is it a die adjustment strike or clogged die?

It's a grease filled die according to Fred Weinberg.

Nice find on the 65. I have been roll searching quite a while and 65's are difficult in that condition.

My 2nd of four boxes of halves yielded 2 40%ers.

Not much to show for 2 boxes (first one had 1 40%er)....hopefully one of the next two will have a lot of goodies...

    Congrats !
It brings me joy to find pre-1980's cents in that condition , I can't explain why , it just does.

What banks tend to have rolls of halves? Larger chains, or small locals?

    Yesterday

I will post my finds from this week but yesterday I stopped by a different bank I had not been to in Pasadena (30 min away) and they had two customer rolls. One of them had 5 Franklins in it. Ties for most ever found in "one" place. The Vice- President happened to be in the bank and as I put my car in drive, he walked out of the bank and flagged me down. He asked if we (son was with me) were collectors. I said my son loved half dollars and he took my info saying he has to go by and do some kind of training at a bunch of his brances in the area and would be glad to look for half dollars and call/e-mail me with what he finds later this week. (fingers crosses!!) I will let you know if it pans out...

Searched a box of dimes: 2 silver. Searched a box of quarters: zero as expected.

In my experience the larger chains usually have them or can get them easier than the smaller banks, but when the smaller banks do have halves you have a better chance of finding silver.

Box of nickels: 20 pre-1960 including one 1939 (no a "D" though). Pretty routine...

Did 1 box of Quarters: = nothing of note as expected.

Did 1 box of Nickels: besides my very first box (which had 4 war nickels) this might be my best so far, had 2 War Nickels, my first Buffalo although very beatup, and a '68 proof. I will post pictures of the beatup Buffalo and the Proof later. Altogether 35 pre-1960 Nickels.

    Here are my Nickel results:
    '41 x 5
    '41 D
    '42...needed this for my book
    '43 P Silver
    '45 P Silver
    '46 x4
    '46 D
    '47 x3
    '47 D
    '51
    '52 x2
    '53 S x2
    '54 D x2
    '54 S x2
'55 D...needed this for my book
    '56 D
    '57 D x4
    '58 D x2

Buffalo/Indian Nickel...can't tell the date, in bad shape
    '82 Canadian
    '68 S Proof

My grand total searching 4 boxes of Nickels is 9 Silver WWII Nickels.
