The 2500 unsearched wheat bag saga (continues)

These are 100 of the over 200 teen wheats I have pulled out of this 17 pound bag of wheats so far. I am thinking of leaving the better dates in these lots of 100 cents and selling them on eBay as starter coins for new collectors.

I am very interested in what you CoinTalkers think a good asking opening bid price for these would be on eBay or if there very poor condition dictates otherwise.

With 10 shutout boxes of halves in a row (and a shutout box of dimes in there two), I bought a bag of dimes to go in a different direction. A bag is 4 boxes worth, or $1000, or 10,000 dimes. Whew!

    In the bag I found 4 silver Rosies, 1 63, and 3 1964. I also found a bunch of 2009 P dimes as well.

Not a shutout (then again, it wasn't a box), but not a good haul either. However, with my luck lately, I'll take it. 4 is a lot better than nothin!!!!

    eBay Auction Price

    .

They say the lower you start the better off you are getting a higher price for your online auction items. I have seen a lot of coin Sellers begin their prices at .99 cents, then if there is value to the Buyer in your coins the price goes up. You can always set Reserves too.

    Hope this helps, John

First box of halves. Nothing! :(

Going to order another for next week. In the mean time will be searching dimes and might take a crack at a box of quarters.

Actually not worth a picture but I went to the bank the other day and as always asked if anyone had turned in any halves or dollars. "yeah, just one roll of halves, but the guy collects coins like you and turned them back in so I guess you don't want them huh?" was the reply from the teller. Since she had no others I said sure, give em to me.... I opened them at the window and they were ordered by date with the front 3 being 40% kennedy's... So three 40%ers but I felt like it was a real coup considering they had already been rifled through....

    John,

I was thinking if I tried to start at face value or if I should just start at melt value and see where it goes from there ?

That's an option, I used to run an auction site, .99 cents seemed to be the starting point for many, kinda see where the price/interest can go from there.

Setting Reserves may not be a bad idea either that way if you do not sell them for what you think they're worth, you don't have too.

yet another reason i do pennies even if i get customer wrapped rolls that every one is short im only out a buck or two depending on if you used a coin star or bank machine coin star charges most banks dont but mine if you dont have an account does and they can either set their machine to take the fee if you dont have an account or set it for free if you do have one

    11 boxes...

Always, always, open a box of halves in front of the teller. I have found mistakes 3 times, and the bank always reimbursed me.

Well, I got another box of halves today......11th shutout in a row.

THEN, I found $120 worth of customer rolled halves......shutout as well.

LOL, it is beyond ridiculous. Tomorrow I go for the thread record tying box of 12 in a row, but will buy two so that I get get the record if shutout in both.......it just doesn't get any better than this.

Got 4 boxes of Halves from my bank the other day. I got 22 40% and 3 90% with one being a 1961 D Franklin.

I feel your pain Bobbeth, I was on my 10th box in a row w/o any silver.

    I got 2 1964 and 4 %40'ers
    3 proofs a 1971-S 1987-S and a 2003-S
    and 1 2006-D
And a 1964 Australia large copper penny

    And on the 12th box....

.....I was shutout again. 12 shutouts in a row, tying the thread record.

Then, I found another bank with $100 of customer rolled halves. The teller said that they came from another bank and that there was a bunch of silver dimes from the 40s in the same shipment (she said, the tellers got the dimes), and told me she thought there was "a lot of really old halves in there." Thinking I may have finally broke through, I bought them all....................Shutout.

I then went to another bank which had about 14 dollars of loose halves and there was 2 40%ers in there so I wasn't shutout for the weekend, but still have my 12 box shutout streak intact.

I have another box of halves that I'll open tonight or tomorrow to see if I can break my tie with Erin to be the KING of SHUTOUTS. :(
