Its VERY difficult to find old Jeffersons in circulation with any steps at all.
That's why I mentioned the possibility of a proof coin.

 

Six wheat pennies along with five Canadian pennies were found from a bank box. Also, with verification please, I might have scored my first 1960 (P) small date Lincoln. Opinions welcomed!

Question for those who hunt nickels;

For years, I've been keeping any nickel older than 1961, figuring that was the last year of the Whitman folder for the first set of Jeffersons. I've now filled up a decent sized jar of them (and still haven't filled out the Whitman).

What do you all do with the extra Jeffersons you've pulled from circulation that are pre-1961?

Don't know actually but hold onto those War Nickels and Henning Nickels.
The rest? I would cash them in for something really nice and for you, something else nice.

 

Hey @afm1982 - over the last 30 years I have whittled down what I keep of the early Jeffersons. Originally, I kept them all, but now no more than 5 of each date/mint (except for the silver of course). My thought is if there are more than that out there, they aren't that uncommon. I keep the ones closest to mint state, and any errors or oddities go in a 2x2. The rest get rolled up and recycled. With Lincolns, I keep all of the pre 82s as they are worth more in copper than face, about 3¢ each, but nickels only have about 4¢ of copper.

Nickel Box #31:

2 silver war nickels, 1943-P & 1943-S; the 1943-S was an upgrade to what I had in the album!

Found 2x 2009-D also.

Hello. It’s been some years since I’ve posted anything. Got back into coin roll hunting and ran across this very interesting 2021 in a mixed roll. I’ve seen some postings on here for errors in the same general area for this year. None of them have shown though where the date was affected. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!

 

What do you all do with your impaired proofs? Went through some rolls of Quarters, and came across a 2019-S. It burns me to send it back out in circulation, but darn if I know what to do with it.

 

I don't know why but I save anything from 1964 and before. Those were old habits from 2 years ago that I must've carried into today. I think I've got over 800 of these from 1950 to 1964.

I guess to me, it's just cool to see a nickel that old. I especially like finding a 1939 in circulation, even lucking into a 39-S once.
