Switching to pennies a Brinks box produced eight wheaties and seven dimes.

I had a lot of trouble capturing the die cracks on this coin. One going N-S from the neck and the one coming out both ends of the head. Curious to see how far this die progressed before being swapped out.

And I always do an edge scan for cuds, clips or silver. Also a lot of Canadian here in Syracuse. So the 2000 Virginia stuck right out to me. Ever so slightly ferromagnetic so someone nickel plated it.

I need the River of No Return W nice. Yes I come across those plated coins from time to time.
I don't want to create a new thread in order to create a poll. Please share any comments you may have. I picked up a few rolls today and in the first one I have a Jovita Idar (my 4th one, looking to upgrade my book) and 5 looks at a W. Here is my question.
I saw a Mount Rushmore that just had TREMENDOUS luster, I thought it was an S but it wasn't. So I checked my book, and the one I have in there does not have the luster but there are NO scratches on either side. The coin with the great luster on both sides has some nicks, bag marks, reed marks etc. So what do I do? Do I keep the AU coin with no luster and no scratches, or do I keep the coin with the ridiculous
luster, and the nicks, bag marks and reed marks? Any comments will be appreciated.

    Nickel box, I think #13?

Well #13 must be pretty lucky for me lol because did find quite a few interesting things this time.

First, got a 1945-S silver war nickel to fill an empty hole in the album. Only 5 more war nickels left to find; finally past the half way point on these!

Also want to mention finding really nice 2004-P and 2004-D keelboat nickels that upgraded what was in the album.

The most foreign coins I ever found in a box, including the first ones I ever found other than Canadian:

    1989 Canada 5 cents
2006 UK 20 pence (a type I didn't have; this portrait of QE2 I only have with the "puzzle piece" reverse; this is the last type with the old reverse.)
    2014 & 2019 Mexico 1 peso
    Japan Showa 57 (1982) 50 yen

Other than the Canadian nickel which has the identical diameter of an American nickel, not sure how these foreign coins snuck into nickel rolls, especially the 7-sided 20 pence coin. The 1 peso coins are slightly smaller than nickels and the 50 yen coin has a hole in the middle! But somehow machines didn't reject them.

Other neat find: 2007-S proof Jefferson nickel! Not in the greatest condition but finding a proof is still a cool event.

    Others worthy of saving:
    1940 x2
    1940-S
    1941 x2
    1941-D
    1947 x2
    1948
    1948-D x2
    1952
    1952-D
    1953 x2
    1954-D
    1954-S x2
    1956-D x2
    1957-D x2
1958 (kind of semi-key? Know it took me a while to find one of these earlier)
    1958-D x3
    1959-D
    2009-D

No buffaloes this time sadly, but hey this was still a fun box!

Sorry, I forgot the text. I got this in change in the self serve at the grocery.
I can't put it in 1 photo anymore because I have lost the superior Windows 10 paint app, which was the greatest photo editing, zooming and cropping tool ever invented, and the Windows 11 Paint is garbage.

  19. Awsome Coin find. Good Eye!

  20. The best coin found in 2023 on my list was either the 1909-s found in my friend/bosses change to go back to the bank or the 1998-d wide am cent. The ones in the image other then the 1998-d are current 2024 but kind of boring a 1864, 1898,1865 indian, a few buffalos no rare dates a huge clipped jefferson nickel as well as 1969 copper dime clipped but one nice one is the 1960 mechanical doubling nickel. I like how the doubling is all over the coin obverse and reverse. Let me know if any one wants to see obverse and reverses of these?
