Futility search part 18. I get 3 rolls. The first roll only had 1 look, but the other 2 had 6 each. And I just got one in change. 0-14. But the real treasure is the history of this place.

I went through a box that I tossed pennies into over the years while roll searching just because they caught my eye. I'm pondering which ones might make it for grading.

Once a month I roll up packs of $3.50 for the laundry ministry that our church does for those less fortunate. Detergent, dryer sheets & some $. Our grant from the synod is running out after 3 great years. Some local merchants & banks may step up but if not it will be me. For now I at least get to search some quarters

Search for W Mint Mark Island part 19. She gets me 2 rolls. The first roll had 5 shots at a W and 3 in a row. The second roll had 6, also a large cluster of 3 or 4 all together. 10 Ds and 1 P. Everyone else is finding them.

Leave it to higher powers to wash away sins. I like your ministry.

I'm not showing them off.. just showing them.. and I'm not flipping them all over.. unless you see something you like. One at a time maybe. Most won't grade more than 66 or 65.. I have the good ones stashed away.

All I do is penny rolls, a few years ago these 1965 Canadian Cents were all in the same roll.
One is 1964. And I did find a 2006 Canadian Cent with no "P" or Royal Mint Stamp but unfortunately it was not the magnetic variation..

Got some cool finds on my latest nickel box although I frowned when I first saw the box and noticed it was from Loomis. I never have much luck from them! Heading the action were three buffaloes although two were pretty rough looking. Honorable mention finds were a 1941-S and 2009-D Jefferson. The early decade count were eleven from the 40s and eight from the 50s. All but the 41-S and a 1940-D were of high mintage. There were also nine from San Francisco either dated 1969 or 1970.

I stopped off at the local bank today. I observe that the teller has a single dollar coin in his teller tray, which appears to be fully uncirculated (it turns out to be a 2000-P). I offer a dollar bill to buy it. The teller proceeds to offer me a $25 roll of dollar coins, which I take. The teller then offers me a $10 roll of half dollars.

I had a nice surprise when I got home with three Franklin halves found inside:

    1954-P
    1954-D
    1954-S

I surmise they came from an album or some sort of collection for them to be the same year and three different mints. They are the first Franklin half dollars I have found roll searching before.

    So this:

    Led to this:

    Which revealed these:

Wow! Now, I didn't rush back to the bank asking if there were more rolls because the teller said it was the only roll of halves that he had. However, I'm thinking of going back in the morning and asking if perhaps other tellers have rolls of halves available. Or, who knows. Perhaps they may have some from the same source in the vault. You never know!

I put this 1981 D I found yesterday beside some of the other ones I found and couldn't believe how brilliantly golden toned it is compared to the others.. lower right corner. 20230930_095156.jpg

A followup from yesterday's finds. I went to the bank at opening this morning and went to the teller I had yesterday. He said no half dollar rolls in the vault but he asked the other tellers if they had any halves.

    Another teller had one roll:

A 1952-P and a 1969-D. Incredible- my fourth Franklin in just two days!

I asked the teller where the roll yesterday came from and he said he had assembled it himself from his teller tray. So the teller had seen the halves but was oblivious about them.

As a side note, a customer at the teller next to me was going on and on how he mines rolls for silver. I kept nice and quiet about the Franklins found from yesterday.

Bummer to see this thread has died down a bit since I was routinely crh. I just had major hip surgery this week and stocked up on a lot of coin rolls to give me something to do during the down time. So far nothing interesting!
