These outfits market towards non-collectors. They use hyperbole to make non-collectors think they are investments.
Fact is, they command more $ over face value due to this marketing. Same as colorized Kennedy halves or the like. But the market isn't coin dealers or fellow collectors.
There is a premium, though, and I suggest you capitalize on it and use the cash to buy something that fits into your collection.

$400 in BWR halves yielded nothing of note.

What do you think happened to this penny? My guess is washing machine. It seems nicely "polished" with no dings or scratches.

I think the penny was intentional. Some goth hobo nickel creation.
So whenever I go to my CU (withdrawal, dep w/e) I pick up a couple of rolls of quarters in my fruitless search for a W. (I used to get 5 but it was always a hassle and with 2 it's easier and when my GF goes, she gets 2.) Well I hadn't seen any Anna May Wong Q's, and while I am not an insensitive racist clown, I am the opposite of that, a sensitive, non racist clown, for some reason I have been calling these quarters Vera Wang. Well the first 2 rolls were fine as I took one for my album. The last time my GF went I knew there was a chance I would get them again, but perhaps they were finished with that box and I can start getting some 2019-2020's again. No luck 2 more Anna May Wong rolls and only 2 looks at a W. Well today I had to go to the dentist and there was a branch right there and they just opened so I was in and out in 2 minutes. Hoping to get a different batch. I haven't even opened my 2 rolls of Vera Wang's yet.

My diagnosis has already been confirmed by a few of our error experts in another forum (PCGS)...so I'll respectfully disagree.
It's going to go for error grading/authentication and if we're all wrong I'll definitely be honest and let you know.

It is certainly circulated but what you're seeing is struck through heavy grease on both sides as well as the struck through debris on Washington's head.

1 box of nickels, 2 war nicks.

Also picked up $800 of someone's half dollar dump, which of course yielded nothing. To the credit union coin machine they go.

You have a strike through there. It has been circulated as you say which would cause some people to question it. I don't know if I would send it in to get authenticated due to the cost however it's up to you. Some people like to slab things just to have them slabbed for their collection. The cost would outweigh the profit if you're going to flip it. Again, it's a collectors choice. Not for or against that. I would've pulled it and kept it in my collection. Nice find!

Love finding silver war nickels. Only found a few in my time but still exciting to find!
