I'm literally just a few miles from the Denver Mint but the new ones always take weeks to show up in Denver it seems lol.

My latest hunt, consisting of nickels, was a productive one. Leading the list were two Buffaloes. One a no date and the other a 1937-D. I tried very hard to convince myself that the dated one was the sought after 3-legged variety. Sadly it was not. The no date Buffalo I believe is a 1913-D. I say that since the reverse design displays the buffalo on raised ground and there is a barely visible D in the mint mark area. I will provide pictures of this coin in a separate thread.

Other noteworthy finds were a low mintage 2009-D and a 1983 Canadian. The early Jefferson count was a 1939, seven from the 1940s and five from the 1950s.

$190 BWR halves and $40 CWR halves yielded zilch.

on the bright side, my favorite head teller told me today that she'll try ordering Ikes for me again later this week...Fingers crossed she'll by successful!

I think 1971 was when they redid the reverse dies. From then on, full steps were a lot more common. Still a sight to see on a coin that entered circulation 50 years ago, though!

Wow, I haven't been here in 13 years. I am glad it is still going strong. I was wondering if I would order boxes of half-dollars at the bank is it still possible to find silver dollars?

I am too new to ask, but I swear my find was UNC when I pulled this beauty from a roll too. This had to have come from someone's collection!

Keep checking and don't dispair

I'm an honest handful of miles from the Denver Mint but haven't been able to get almost any boxes for 2 or 3 years really.
I could order them at my larger bank but had to wait for weeks sometimes.
My credit union for a while could order boxes for a fee (about $5 to $15 per box) but I never ordered from them.

But suddenly...I can get boxes at two of my banks.
And it seems for the first time in a decade or so I'm even seeing the newest releases within a week or two of their entry into circulation :woot:

Not rubbing it in, I wish you many boxes soon! :joyful:
This one came home with me after work today

I've noticed the last few months that the activity in this forum in general has dramatically declined. I would check the thread weekly and salivate at everyone's hauls.

Did I miss something in the thread/forum? What happened? It's like everyone disappeared.

I know, for me, I don't check for coins as much these days. I only have an account at one bank now and they have closed half of their branches near me and the open ones hours are less. Also, at least one of the "regulars" is not on cointalk anymore.

You weren't around during the huge clash I guess, furryfrog and a bunch of other members got banned or left after child's play and the ancient forum is now the desert basically, this happened months ago.A lot of members from CT have moved elsewhere like the NGC forums etc. Also one of the banned ancient members created there own forum to combat CT.

The latest nickel box of mine produced two war year and two low mintage 2009 keepers. The early decade count was 6 from the 40's and 10 from the 50's. All were high mintage with the exception of a 1951 from Philadelphia.

One of my daughters is now a bank teller as she also attends college for a Master's Degree.

I (obviously) encouraged her to watch for silver coins. Today she went into the vault and saw an open box of BWR halves, noticed 3 ender rolls, and bought them.

She opened them and found 4 silver halves. As soon as she told me via text, I congratulated her, told her I was proud of her, and then encouraged her to buy and search the rest of the box.

Her manager allowed her to buy $200 more from the box, but wanted to keep some unopened rolls on hand for customers during the holidays, so wouldn't sell my daughter the remaining rolls. My daughter found 3 more silvers in the $200.

My daughter plans to work a deal with her manager tomorrow so she can buy and search the rest of the box.

She was really pleased, and I'm happy for her!
