I should probably mention that that one was (re)deposited at the credit union, which also made me smile :)
I also re-deposited the wheaties pictured below I found in these same rolls for someone else to find :joyful:

On occasion I also cash in rolls of wheaties or seed a roll or two with proofs that I have multiples of. Last time I did this I had a new very young teller working behind the till. I told him, "Here are some older cent rolls from the 1940s." He replied, "Do they still have Lincoln's face on them back then?" With a straight face I said, "I think so, but I was in a hurry when I rolled them." (Bless that child's pea pickin' heart).;)

How do you know which cents to microscope for variety checking?

And how long does it take you to go through a box, the way you do it?

That's nuts. I've never found one, in what's probably at least 12 boxes by now and could easily be a lot more because I haven't counted how many rolls I've done in the past couple of years. I found two 2000 WAM's last year despite searching maybe two boxes total, and nothing this year despite searching many times that much.

How many boxes do you figure you've searched to yield that many 1998 WAM's?

I only look for stuff that is easy enough to see. Several of the big DDs and a few varieties. That makes it easy to sort a box pretty quickly. Any glaring errors are easy enough to pull out as well. Then I sort and stack the ones I want to look at with my loupe. When I finish sorting, I search each date stack at a time. That way I can look at the same spot on each coin. Makes it easy to see if there is a difference. If there is something that warrants further inspection, I can slow down and take a closer look.

I've got the system down so it takes ~an hour to do a box. I do 2 boxes a week and in the past I did a lot more.
I just passed 2,000,000 cents searched last month.

I pulled this one from a roll last night - it's pretty worn, but I'd be worn too after circulating for over a century. I won't tell you the year - look closely - it's there!

My grand babies do that too. If I give wheats to them. If they don’t need them they spend them. It works for me

    Maybe 1 case of cents. There harder then 2000 @furryfrog02 I would say 82 83 84 72 and 69’s plus your 92 CAM and 98 99 2000 WAM coins deserve a second look.
