The buffalo ender has been nick-a-dated at some point, best I can tell it's a 1914. The rest of the roll was all 80s and newer. 009.jpg 008.jpg

That looks to me like a 1918 or 1919 in that light.

I've often wondered how Nic-A-Date works. Theoretically, the denser metal should be around the date, and the date should be not as dense because it's not struck down as hard, so it confuses me how Nic-A-Date eats away at the other stuff but not so much the date.

The large dollar coins arrived in a $500 bag. I also bought $200 in halves that are likely someone else's dump. I'm just glad the large dollars arrived.

I'd KILL for some large dollars like that!
Good luck on the halves. Usually if I get someone else's dumps, they just rewrap in the bank wrappers.

Yes, the bank must special order them. In my town I know of only 2 tellers who actually know how to order the large dollars and they both work at the same branch of a major bank chain. This bank recently got a new courier contract (Loomis). The teller who orders these for me told me she had to talk with 5 different people to "make it happen" versus one person under the old contract...Again, I'm just glad the large dollars arrived.

The last year or so the available halves in my area have been either dumps, or new 2018D coins. My money on this batch of CWR halves is on dump. I believe the recent high silver prices caused more people to search halves in my area than in the past.

I was going through some penny rolls I bought (CWR) and lo and behold. King George came to visit.

The metallurgists here have said that the metal flows into the devices, and is work-hardened as it does so, making it more resistant to etching. It sounds plausible to me. It would also explain why it's harder to raise dates on silver coins -- silver doesn't work-harden nearly as much as copper-nickel.

    Search results:
No silver or proofs in the large dollars. I kept 1 that may be MS.

    Halves were a dump.

    lackluster results but still enjoyable.
