My favorite bank branch just reopened their lobby. They were closed for awhile, then open, then closed again, now open again. Now I need to get some half dollars.

@furryfrog02 Very cool. I would love to get a solid box myself one day. When my local grocery got 2 solid boxes of Weir Farms in a row, they allowed me to buy or trade for a bunch, so that's how I ended up with so many Weir Farms and Samoa (Bat) W's. But never have got a solid box myself. Have not seen a TGP in the wild down here yet.

I think next week's boxes will probably be back to a mix again. 1 week of solid, 1 week of mostly solid but mixed, means next week will probably be normal again.

Got a box of circulated nickels. Best of the box were a 1943-P war nickel and a 1928 buffalo, also from Philly. Chose to do a light nic-a-date on the buffalo.

Meow has found silver today. A 1962d quarter. Meow is curious about how much silver quarters do others find CRH. Meow thinks it takes over 5 thousand dollars of CRH for Meow to find a single silver quarter. No luck with Ws lately, but Meow will be happy with adding WIN_20210122_17_02_49_Pro.jpg WIN_20210122_17_03_01_Pro.jpg some silver to the Cat Hoard.

Posted about this on another thread but thought I would add it here. The other day a teller from my bank called and said she had a $430 in half dollars come in. Long story short.....I bought them and another $1000 bag. This is what I found......

    DSCN4827.JPG

The final tally is in. 100 rolls of 40%ers plus $8 overflow.
    4 rolls 1965
    8 rolls 1966
    30 rolls 1967
    27 tolls 1968
    23 rolls 1969
6 rolls Misc AU 60's coins I set aside.

I'm really still in disbelief that I was able to find that much silver......a lot ( more then Half) of it was D mint marked. Whoever collected it must have been out west.

Meow cant even get halves where Meow lives. Never CRH a single half ever, but would very much want to.

Amazing Find - A record setter! $1,430 in 40% halves = $10,726.65 at current melt. Play the Lottery!

Probably an estate dump by heirs who couldn't be bothered after liquidating the holdings of someone aging in place.

Congrats on a once in a lifetime find! Looks like the folks who turned in these halves were not aware of the 40% silver content between '65-70.

I am very happy for you!

If I was you, I'd sell it all, keep a bit extra over the initial face value cost for more CRH-ing and then plow the rest of the money back into my collection and/or pay off household debt.
