Nice! I've been looking for one of those Wisconsin quarters forever. Hard to find "D" mint coins here though.

Thanks FF. Did some research on the Wisconsin Extra Leaf varieties. Apparently, somebody at the Denver Mint modified two different dies by adding a low leaf and a high leaf, and minted a limited number of coins that were released in Arizona and West Texas (that’s me!). I’m hoping an acetone bath will get rid of the film on the obverse. Even if that helps, it’s dinged up so it won’t be in great condition.

I haven't done a CRH event in perhaps a couple of years, but in that time I accumulated a pretty nice hoard of change. My wife cringes because I make change by breaking paper as you never know what you'll get back. I even will work the vending machine for change (usually nickels). I decided to sort the change by denomination before doing the hunt. Cents went first; perhaps $15 worth. Typically, I'll pull out a find before tossing it into the coin jug, but I only look from a high level, so most variety hunting comes later. Well, in going through those cents, I found a couple wheatbacks I missed initially, several AU+/BU cents for my roll collection, a few foreign cents/centavos, and a few variety cents. Here are the best:

    • 1978 LWC (not sure of the real date but perhaps a damaged 2 or 3 and some old acid treatment)
    • 1944 LWC
    • 1972 Republica Dominicana
    • 1989 LMC DDO (not sure which one I have but the clear marker isn't listed at Coppercoins...but perhaps Wexler...will check into that later)
    • 1998 WAM (unfortunately, a cupholder casualty - I had to resort to vinegar to remove the hydrozincite barnacles that covered 90% of the reverse and confirm the wide variety)
    • Several 2019 DDO (minor and perhaps unlisted)
    • 8 Canadian Cents (including a Centennial Cent)
It's more than I expected given I scan the change before tossing it into the jug. But it was a satisfying hunt. Nickels, dimes and quarters to go yet, so more fun ahead I hope. Happy hunting folks!!

Is it normal to find SIX Proof Half Dollar in a single roll? A customer overheard me I wanted to get a box of half dollars but this specific bank does not have it and told me "Hey, just pass me $20, you can have these 2 rolls, I want out of here, I'm running late" WTF? Anyway, still 87 boxes of no silver And 0 for 2 in customer rolls :D :D Streak continues.

Looks like the price of your roll search went up. Now your quarter hooked. I need the high leaf Wisconsin quarter. Found my low leaf picking up a single roll. On a Saturday

Forgot to include the years, if it's any important. 1986, 1972, 1982, 1983, 1983, 1972. And I'm not too sure about that 1977's funny color. It's gold or gold coated, not too sure. And 2002 NIFC. Very strange day indeed. Maybe I need to start dealing with customer's rolls or something.

He had already searched the rolls and didn't want the proofs.

On my way home from work tonight I needed to deposit a check, so I stopped at one of my occasional half dollar pickup banks. I deposited the check, and then asked for halves. They had 9 machine rolls, so I bought them and left.

Awhile later at home I sat down at the kitchen table to search the rolls, and my 20 yo daughter, who is home from college for her holiday break, asked if she could open the rolls and look for silver. I told her she was welcome. Local machine rolls are typically very skunky, so I expected nothing. Our deal is if she finds a keeper, then I’ll pay her melt value for it...Very rare, so doesn’t cost me much

First roll she opened she says she found one. I scoffed, and then glanced over, and this is the sight I saw...

Let’s face it, the keeper coins are super obvious.

I paid her $6, and now it’s my keeper! The rest of the rolls were skunks, but I don’t mind :)

Went thru my box of halves and got skunked. Did find 14 NIFC's. Went thru a box of quarters, no silver, no 2019W's. Did find a 2019P War in the Pacific and the following 2019D's, 18 Lowell's, 14 AMP's, 4 War in the Pacific's, 2 SAM's and 2 RONR's.

On the way home from work tonight I had to stop at an auto parts store near one of my usual half dollar pickup banks, so I stopped in at the bank and asked for halves. They had 7 MWRs, so I bought them. When I got home I noticed 1 of the rolls had a double proof ender, so I knew there was something in the roll.

I had to repair my car, so my 20 yo daughter opened the rolls while I was busy getting greasy. The only roll with anything of interest was the proof ender roll, which held 10 Cu-Ni proofs and a guitar pick. This roll held the most proofs I’ve ever encountered in a single roll, and my first guitar pick from the wild, ha!

My daughter was disappointed because I don’t “buy” proofs (or guitar picks, haha) from her when she finds them, but the coins are still keepers for me :)

Don't you have to submit it to the TPG in the unopened roll, so they can verify that you didn't swap picks after opening?

Back in the day (~3 years ago?) when TD Bank, WF, and many others had coin counting machines in their lobbies, items such as guitar picks were not as rare as they are today. This is based on my online observations of other hunters reporting their finds over the past 6 years.

Maybe I will get the pick slabbed...Ha

$440 half dollar box of mixed wrapper CWRs was a big fat skunk. Did get a handful of 70’s and 80’s Uncs, so I was hoping for a collection dump.
At the same bank, a different teller had some NIFC US Mint rolls which I bought. The enders are slightly toned. Will open them back home and upgrade my albums and replace my duplicates on an as needed basis. Also, opened another quarter box and found 2 more Lowell Ws, plus 2 more Parks quarters the grandson needs for his album. One was an okay Philly Yellowstone. Ironically, it was the last coin I needed last year for my own Dansco, I simply could not find one CRH. Ended up trading for one with @ace71499 , who was kind enough to send me one. Hopefully, he can find the last 2 coins he needs with his Dad’s help (tomorrow, I bring him the album with 10 coins of the last 12 he needs so he can put them in himself and then it’s his!)
