Tossing this over here since I'm not sure how many of you look at other threads:
Found a 1973D Clipped Planchet cent in my box last night along with my 80th 2000 WAM.

I posted a ‘66 Lincoln cent with almost the same damage and I was told it’s PMD. How can you tell if it is, in fact, a clipped planchet?

The cent he posted has the Blakesley effect on the opposite rim.

Hmm hard to tell. They are kinda blurry. I'm not seeing any Blakesly effect on yours like I would expect to see on such a large clip.

I'm afraid that one is damage after it left the mint.

Hey FF, I'm not very experienced with clipped planchets having only found 2 so far. But, I don't see the Blakesly Effect. Can you zoom in on the opposite end and take pics front and back so I can see it better? Sorry, these old eyes are not as good as they used to be, lol.

Sorry. The Blakesly effect isnt very strong on this one. I did my best to get a picture of it. You can just barely make out some weakness near IN. Best shot I could get.

Thanks, I do see the spreading of IN, also maybe a slight thickening of the rim?

Picked up 3 boxes that I couldn’t get last week due a hectic schedule. Pre-searched all 3 for enders and actually found one, a 1969-D. I haven’t found an ender since May! Will search them tomorrow.

Good luck. I had 3 enders last week (only noticed 1). Maybe the silver gods are finally showing their favor towards us again.

This. The edge of a reeded coin struck your quarter and put the indention into it.

So, the 1st box had only two keepers:
    1977-S
    1974-D DDO

    The 2nd box had:
    1974-D DDO

The 3rd box with the 1969-D ender had (see pic):
    1968-D
    1969-D

A new box bought today had (see pic):
    1954 Franklin
    1966
    1967
    1968-D

Is silver making a slow comeback?

Probably not its not a indent or any pmd . It is raised and there is no damage around the area , Its part of the coin just as the letters more of a dropped letter and or number thanks for the input

What do we know. Sorry, but it's exactly what we said it is. Look at enough coins and you'll see it happens quite often.
