Whoa, a "no mint mark" circulation find that's actually a find...?!

Yeah, I was awestruck for a little while. I have been keeping an eye out ever since I started searching through rolls.

I got the searching bug today, so I stopped at 4 banks this afternoon after work. Gathered a total of $410 in halves with about $280 being mwrs, $120 cwrs ($110 of which was an obvious dump), and about $10 loose...

1, uncirculated 68D from the mwrs
1, 2001S Cu-Ni clad proof from the non-obvious dump cwr

I placed $200 half orders at 2 of the banks for giggles because I’m mostly caught up with chores around the house, so I should have some time to search them when they arrive.

    Happy hunting everyone!

I stopped by a branch to dump some searched change into the self serve coin machine. I asked the new receptionist if the half dollar bag had any accumulation in it (I bought a partial bag of halves from this machine about 3 months ago). She looked at the log and said $813. Whoa! I asked if I could buy it and she said it had to be full ($1000) in order to sell it to me. I told her the Branch Manager has sold me partial bags before. Sure enough, the Manager arrived back from lunch and sold me the bag. At the car, I looked it over and could only see one silver. I searched it when I got home and the results were small:
    1 x 1964-D
    2 x 1965
    1 x 1974-D DDO
Oh well, the way my luck has been this was good!

On a much more serious note, I am traveling to the Texas Hill Country tomorrow for the funeral of a good friend. Tom was the same age as me (61), and we both retired in Feb-2018. Made a quail hunt with him in December, and shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with pancreatic & liver cancer. He suffered through much chemo treatment and was doing better until the tumors blocked his intestines. He was gone soon after that. Way too young and leaves behind a beautiful and grieving family.

@TexAg I am sorry for your loss. Death of a friend or family member always brings things into perspective, and helps one focus on what truly matters most in life, human relationships.

Hunted a penny box yesterday. No "wow" coins but a good hunt.
13 wheat cents (oldest: 1929 Philly, most interesting: 1944-S w/ some luster)
    7 Canadian cents (one younghead)
2 '09s (Formative Years & Presidency, both Philly)

Nice find! Should go for about $150. Yours is a strong strike after the pressure was increased but before the spikehead crack. Mine all have the die crack obv 1 o’clock.

Slim pickings currently in cent/nickel box hunting. The latest cent box only yielded up 5 wheaties from the 40's and 50's. The latest nickel box offered up a dozen from the 40's including a silver 44P. Nothing to write home about. But yesterday, I received a 1966 Panama 1/4 Balboa in change in lieu of a quarter. It's clad and worn to Fine condition so no great worth but still a neat find.

    Oh man guys.

20 dollars in halves from the bank, CWR.

This is how 1 roll was situated. 20190731_100235.jpg

10 40%ers in the same roll!

Other roll didn't have anything, but that's OK!

I've been having good luck lately :) I hope to share the luck with all of you guys :).

This doesn't happen often, but once in awhile it occurs. Usually I'll reply with "I don't want to withdraw, I'll just pay cash". If that doesn't work, I'll sometimes tell them the account is in my wife's name (at some banks it actually is). If all else fails, I'll tell them that if they want to bring in new accounts, saying "no" to potential customers isn't the way to go about it.

Yup. I've tried all those routes before too. This guy was having none of it.

So today I open one penny roll at work and it was interesting. One wheat penny 1955 with Little clad on T letter, 1983 with possible double d, 1993 with huge eyebrow :wacky: and couple pennies with nice colours IMG_20190801_000217.jpg IMG_20190731_111143.jpg IMG_20190801_000420.jpg IMG_20190801_000511.jpg

The wheatie has a die chip. The 83D has exposed zinc around the mint mark, the eyebrow has taken a hit. The others are just enviromental damage.

I do not normally hunt coin rolls but this morning at the credit union, I asked if they had any halves. They usually don't but today they had 7 rolls so I took them all.

Ended up with 12 proof coins (all 1986 or newer), 8 40%, and 4 90%.

Not a bad haul. Guess I'll keep asking for halves at this branch.
