5 per box isn't half bad though!

Thanks @furryfrog02 & @berto ! I have to say that if this drought I have been under for the last couple of months continues, I'm considering cutting way back on my volume. I'm trying to tough it out until Christmas, lol. ;)

That's exactly what I'm doing. Going to focus on quarters and cents and just do a couple of boxes of halves in order to move through the inventory. Then I will pick back up ~October/November when the Christmas deposits start coming in. (hopefully)

  6. Did a quick hunt of 11 BWRs this morning and I proved myself wrong from my last post. I claimed the tellers were rolling and taking the good stuff but apparently not. Found my first War Nickel and I almost fell out of my chair. 20190721_110327.jpg 20190721_110422.jpg

No silver in the last 3 boxes of halves. :yack:
But sometimes you have to take solace in the one offs that come your way instead.

I make my monthly trip to the neighboring town to buy boxes of halves and, hopefully, a coin counting machine bag or two. HH everybody!

I didn't find it in a roll, but in a box at a yard sale, and need some help identifying it. My best bet is that it was part of a medal and at some point fell off. Anyone have any other ideas?

I put a penny next to it for scale.

1 bank in a grocery store yesterday had $3 in loose halves, and 1 cwr...Nothing.

I had a strategically successful trip to my neighboring town this morning. I was able to dump $890 in CWRs I bought earlier in the week that were somebody else’s CRH dump. The two banks I dumped them at require coins to be rolled, and I had just re-wrapped them in the CRH’s generic wrappers, so good to go. That felt awesome, lol.

Then, at a different bank, I discovered they had a coin machine with no fee for customers. So, as the teller was dumping some $648 of my halves, I heard her say that the bag filled up at around $400 in. Naturally, I asked if I could buy the $1000 bag. The new tellers had to call their manager who was on break, but returned to tell them how to handle it. I did not see any silvers after a quick look through the plastic bag, but I am hoping to find a few when I get around to searching it.

At another branch, I bought an $88 partial bag of halves which yielded 1 x 90%er, 4 x 40%ers, & 1 x 1980-S. Could be they were missed somewhere along the line because they are very dirty. It also gave up a major rotated die which you will have to go to the Error Coins Forum to see, ha ha!

I also bought 2 boxes of Brinks halves. I figure a change of source might break my Loomis Box skunk streak. I also dumped $1250 loose halves at other branches with coin machines. Oh, and $21.50 in different partial bags netted zero silver.

So, my dump coins are nearly all cleared out, and I have the equivalent of several boxes to search. Oh happy day! Good luck everybody!

Lol, @Cheech9712 ! I think I have most of them up through 2007, except for some of the silver proofs.

Well, the coin machine bag I topped off with around $400 of my own coins did not produce any silver. Just 10 NIFCs including a 1987-P. There were no other stray coins or items in the bag making me think the coins were screened going in. The bag was only on the machine since June 24th, so perhaps another CRHer just hunting silver dumped the $600 worth. Will buy bags in the future since the branch is cool with it, and I might get lucky with a collection dump.

Picked $480 mwr halves from an out of the way bank after my test this morning. Hopefully something better than what I’ve seen lately.

$480 in halves skunked. With the bad news I got from work today, the skunk is just icing on the turd cake.
