Fantastic Score, I would buy them Pizza for Lunch after a score like that. Little Caesars $5 pizzas go a long way.

Today was a good day, My first four boxes for this week had one skunk the rest yielded 2-90%er a 1961 Franklin Proof, and a 64 Kennedy, Also pulled 8-40%ers 1-66 SMS, 3-67 one a SMS, and 4-69. I also pulled a nice stack of NIFC, a few of them are satin finish, a few Proofs, plus a GEM 87D. Me Very happy.

Walking halves and Standing quarters are the best looking coins our government ever produced. Awesome dude!
Got a 'fed' box from the People's Bank in our town.
Nothing earth shattering yet but one decent wheat (1948) and some keeper copper among the other stuff.

I'll be traveling for work outside my home state in about 2 weeks, so I called ahead to the bank nearest where I will be staying. I asked if they would order halves for me. The head teller told me someone had ordered 6 boxes quite awhile ago and not picked them up, so the boxes were there waiting for me. She said she would put my name on them. I asked if the boxes were sealed, and she said, yes. I explained I am a collector and would need to return most the coins to her bank. She said this was fine as long as the coins are rolled...I am set!

This is a great example of the importance of clear communication with your tellers. If I do look through some boxes from this bank, then regardless of my finds, I will treat the bank staff to donuts, bagels, etc. to show my appreciation.

    Happy Hunting everyone!

Those 1934s are in good condition and the 1950 $10 is in great shape. Bummer about writing on the other bills but great finds and proof tellers will treat you well if you are good to them. HH!

Not a roll find, but after searching hundreds of rolls worth of nickels, I finally found a Liberty nickel in circulation - sitting on the counter of a coffee shop, abandoned by a customer who probably thought it was foreign, or cruddy.

At 1898, it's my new oldest circulation find (previously was a road rashed 1900 Indian head).

The coin is pretty dark, but the details are solid - full Liberty on the obverse. IMG_6241.jpg

This doesn't diminish your find, and they're fun to get, but...
there's a reason people didn't collect $20 bills in 1934. With purchasing power now of a lot less than 5% of back then... being kind it would take 20X face value to break even, ignoring interest, if you had saved the 1934 in 1934 until today = $400 from the collector market.

It's one thing to save a 1934 buffalo nickel and need $1.00 to break even... an actual possibility if your nickel was a 1931 S in nice circulated condition.

I guess my point is, if there is a point, saving pennies and nickels affords the best opportunity to turn an actual profit over original purchasing power. Unless you find silver or 1934 banknotes in collectible condition :)

    Excellent, and valid, point.

I am a collector, and foolish or not, I hold on to my collectibles, not only because of potential future monetary value, but to leave my kids some pieces of history, and to remind them of their dear old Dad (me) when he (I) is (am) gone :)

My last four boxes for this week were much better, I pulled 23 pieces of silver no skunks, 1-64D, 1-65, 1-66, 6-67, 12-68, and 2-69's. 1 each 87 D&P, and
2-2017D's. 33 pieces for the week is really darn good. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, Hope you all get what yyou are looking for. Keep Stacking!!

I'm not even CRH for silver. I picked up some rolls of quarters, because I am looking for the new 2019 Lowell,Mass quarter and I found this silver one. I will drop it in some acetone, and then try to determine the reverse.

The current 'Fed' box sure has a lot of 69-73 and much less copper worth keeping. But I still plug along.

Trivia - when I was a kid, they sold "lucky pennies" in a plastic bubble. They were dated 1969 (Philadelphia mint). Turns out, that 1969 was a pretty good date to have in UNC, compared to the other dates in the 1960s. I think I bought one... but I can't seem to find it in my stuff. I rarely see one in change.

Had carpal tunnel surgery on my other wrist Friday, so I missed a few boxes last week. Did manage to search 4 Loomis half dollar boxes, the last one was very good. Here are the results:
    Box #1: 2 x 40%ers
Box #2: No silver, 6 NIFCs
Box #3: No silver, 17 NIFCs
Box #4: Had 2 enders, so had the wife join in on the fun. We found 23 silvers!
    1 x 1942-S (1st Walker the wife has found)
    1 x 1948-D AU (hole filler)
    1 x 1963-D
    1 x 1964
    1 x 1964-D
    1 x 1965
    5 x 1966
    8 x 1967
    2 x 1968-D
    2 x 1969-D
    1 x 2002-S Impaired Proof
    14 x 2002+ NIFCs
    2 x UK One Penny (1946 & 1948 - Going in my foreign album)

Picking up 2 more boxes tomorrow, Happy Hunting!
