I’ll probably catch some flak on this forum for doing this. But the 1981-S impaired proof SBA that I just found was bugging me due to some haze on the lower half of the obverse and a fingerprint under “In God We Trust”. Since it was already impaired and had a couple of dings and scratches, I dipped it in fresh eZest for 1 second (literally in then out in one motion), rinsed it immediately in tap water and then in distilled water. Then very lightly patted dry with a soft cotton towel and air dried. I like the outcome! Here’s a before and an after:

I find 1 in about every 600 Susan B coins searched.

This box of pennies from People's Bank is all CWR.
I got 5 dollars worth at our bank. Three of those were Loomis rolls. Those gave nothing great. The first CWR roll I tried gave a decent 51D wheat. Found a couple of the most spectacular reverses with bad obverse. But also some pretty nice copper.

So I went through a box of halves and found a 1963. What I also found was 300 coins marked with a huge K on the obverse. Obviously someone’s dump. The marks were so bad I was afraid to take them to the bank and dump, so i fished them all out and spread them out into other bags of halves I had to dump. Still pissed me off. Why do people do that?

Not many silver half dollar postings lately, including from myself. Silver seems to have dried up around my town. Is anybody finding any?

@Bman33 I also get irritated when I find halves marked in obnoxious ways.

@TexAg you may recall I have stopped searching boxes of local halves, and I also have not had time to visit banks in my town for about 1 month...Too busy doing other things. The most recent thing was a hit-and-run driver totaled my car Monday. I admit this is a first-world problem; minor event in the scheme of life. Inconsiderate people exist everywhere. I am confident Karma will eventually repay inconsiderate people for their unkind treatment of others.

My last box was a skunk. Getting another today. I have been slowly catching up error searching a lot of coin I had set aside.

@berto I'm sorry to hear about your hit and run accident. I hope you are okay and somehow the perpetrator is caught. I broke down and bought a $50 bag of cents off my bank's coin machine and just finished it up. Will post some keeper coin pictures later.

Bambam, marking coins with a magic marker does not hurt them, and one does not need to use acetone to clean it off, Rubbing Alcohol works great on taking off magic marker without hurting the coin. its really not an issue.

Just like the beginning of the week still on the skunk streak, last four boxes for this week all skunks, that puts me at 35 skunk boxes in a row. Looks like I might break my skunk streak of 42 boxes by next week if this streak continues. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend, and good luck to you all.

Some interesting finds in my $50 coin machine bag, although I was hoping for more than just 8 Wheaties:
    (1) 1945
    (2) 1945-S
    (1) 1946-D
    (1) 1947-D beauty
    (1) 1957
    (1) 1956-D (I got them out of date order in my picture)
    (1) 1958-D
    (1) 1960-D die chip in the “6” (I’m thinking this is a large date)
    (1) 1993-D or 1998-D or ? grease filled die partially masking the last 2 digits in the date. Guesses anybody?
    (1) 2008-D reverse toner

    My neck hurts!

Out of six boxes of halves this week I pulled a 62, three 64's and six 40%ers. Nothing big and not picture worthy but just enough to get me to keep it up. Going to get an eighth box and CWR's on Saturday.

I was recently in some city at some bank SW of DC. They had $800 worth, but I could only grab $230. Later that night I unpacked and scored 22, mainly 40’s. It was crazy...maybe one of y’all can find the rest...not a big bank like PNC or 5/3rd, etc... good luck

1 bank tonight had $800 in halves. The teller who had them said one lady dropped them off and told him she’d removed the silver. Yet, $90 worth were unopened MWRs. So I bought the $90 plus another $30 in CWRs to sample them...skunk.

Although it’s tempting to buy the remaining $680 in CWRs tomorrow, I will resist temptation because I smell a stinky skunk.

It’s absurd and there are more people that agree than disagree but by all means, Keep marking up coins because you’re worried about getting the same box twice. Nobody wants to take the time to wipe off a marking that someone else intentionally put on there and I would beg to differ that putting marker on a coin could not hurt it in either the process of applying it or removing it. Ridiculous.

On my way to pick up my weekly order of half dollar boxes, I had to dump my searched pennies at my dump bank. They have a Cummins Allison self serve coin machine and it has been awhile (2 months) since I bought the half dollar bag. So I inquired and it held $77.50. They sold it to me which is interesting because the head teller at their other branch refuses to sell partial bags. His bag has been creeping along slowly and is up to $127.50 since I bought the previous bag about 7 months ago. It will be a long time before it fills.
Any who, I went through this bag and found:
    1964
    1966
    1968-D
    1969-D
Not a gold mine but I will take it, especially considering how slow the silver train has been around here!
