finaly have somthing to post. Saturday went to the bank to order a box of ½ dollars the teller was a bit confused, he never heard of 50 cent pieces. He asked another teller about it and she told him they never ordered those before. That got me excited because that meant that there was a good chance of finding silver halves in the rolls. I called back on Tuesday to find out that they had received the box of 1000 half dollars so when I went to pick them up the teller told me that she had ordered two boxes by mistake. I purchased only the one box and when I got in my truck I checked one roll and found nothing. When I got home and went through about half of the box I found a total of 7 Franklin halves one walker, 4 or 5 40% Kennedy halves, and two 1964 silver Kennedy halves. That took all night to go through. So today I went back to the bank for the other box and found that they had bagged it for return, so I thought that they probably went through it an removed the silver. After a quick check I found one 1964 silver and one 40% silver. Looks like I am going to be up all night tonight looking for silver. will make a list of finds when i complete my search of this batch. i think i found an untaped source of rolls.

Bought $5 in 50 cent rolls today at the bank. Only have 100 left to look through. Found two dimes in one roll, that made me smile. :smile (doesn't take much). Found one 1942 wheat, one 1987 struck off center a little, and one 1998 that is as black as night with just very-very small hints of copper on the rim.?. It weighs exactly the same as a normal Copper-Zinc cent (.006 pounds - this is as granular as our scales are and they don't measure in grams - but that converts to 2.72 grams) Cannot tell what happened to it but it seems like it is post mint.

Also picked up a roll of dead president dollars - no errors  . Keep hoping for a blank surface - any surface - I'm not picky :smile

Results from my two boxes of halves search.

    (2) 98 P with die crack from the base of the bust to the edge.
    (1) 64 D Kennedy
    (2) 64 P Kennedy’s
    (1) 65 P 40% Kennedy
    (1) 66 P 40% Kennedy
    (4) 67 P 40% Kennedy’s
    (4) 68 P 40% Kennedy’s
    (1) 69 P 40% Kennedy
    (1) 43 P walking liberty
    (1) 44 D walking liberty
    (1) 51 S Franklin
    (1) 54 D Franklin
    (1) 58 D Franklin
    (1) 60 D Franklin with some doubling on the word’s “States of America”
    (1) 61 D Franklin
    (2) 62 D Franklin’s
    (2) 63 D Franklin’s

    2ND box had the following

    (1) 42 P walking liberty
    (1) 45 P walking liberty
    (1) 47 P walking liberty
    (1) 51 D Franklin
    (1) 58 D Franklin
    (1) 62 D Franklin
    (1) 64 P Kennedy
    (2) 65 P 40% Kennedy’s
    (2) 66 P 40% Kennedy’s
    (1) 67 P 40% Kennedy
    (6) 68 D 40% Kennedy’s
    (6) 69 D 40% Kennedy’s
Now I just have to find a way to cash in the rest so that they don’t go back to my banks vault so that I don’t have to search through them again on the next box. To bad the casinos around here don’t have the 50 cent slots any more that would have made it easy.

    Ok It happened to me!

I've been reading the posts about finding silver halves in Kennedy rolls. I couldn't help but thinking there was some fibbing going on !!!!!! :)

    BUT

for the first time ever, I bought a roll of kennedies from my local bank. HA! I got a 1939-P Walker!!! Nothing else and the Walker is in AG condition - really worn, but I don't care!!!

I must admit that this was probably the most exciting coin find I've ever had. And remember, that was my very first roll of halves - I swear!

I think I now officially believe in the Tooth Fairy!!!

Guess who's going back tomorrow :)

the best results that i got from nickels was in buying a case $100.00 at a time and going through them then changinging them back . almost always 1 war nickel , or buffalo nickel and usualy around 20 fourties and fifties, 5or 6 68,69.or 70S an ocasional 38 or 39 only 1 d, and an ocasional 1950, and 1 D so i have better lock going with a sealed box luck to all wvrick

    Very sad.....

I looked through 2 rolls of halves and came up with one 1968 d. I was glad to see any silver again in a roll.

with such a big success on my first two boxes of halves i had to order a third one
here are the finds from this box.

    (1) 51 P Franklin
    (1) 64 D kennedy with some nice rainbow toning just starting around the edge.
    (1) 65 P 40% Kennedy
    (1) 66 P 40% Kennedy
    (3) 67 P 40% Kennedy
    (5) 68 D 40% Kennedy one was possably an AU ?
    (1) 69 D 40% Kennedy

I was a little dissapointed with the results of this box after the incredable findes of the first two boxes. guess i got spoiled and was expectting too much. still a pretty good haul though. will have to find some where to cash in the coins before i get another box, probably should go to a different branch too. maybe i will just use them to buy gas see how they like $30 worth of halves every week for there over priced gas.

    today's finds

I have dried up the local banks and they have no more rolls of half dollars. So today I went out of state and drove up to Sturbridge, MA. One bank only had $9.00 worth and the other had $74.00 worth of loose halfs.
    2-1965
    3-1966
    6-1967
    5-1968D
    2-1969D
18 total 40% silver halfs out of 166 coins.

Thanks. I thought it was a good return from 166 coins. For once the tellers were nice and even gave me one of those green zippered bank bags. Of course they never saw me before!
Also as I go through the rest I found a nice 1982P, two 1983P,
and others you don't see everyday.
