I am in a very unique location and situation that allows me to search some very loaded bags of coins. I will miss this when I move.

@TexAg, I am sorry to hear this. I was in a similar position about 4 years ago in my town. As a result of dismal finds in boxes of halves, I stopped searching them locally, and instead only searched boxes of halves when I was out of town for work/vacation. I still picked up occasional CWR of halves when I could find them.

As of this spring, which marked about the 4 year mark of my hiatus from boxes of halves, I discovered Loomis had evidently boxed "new" halves that had accumulated at their local vault. I restarted searching boxes of halves in May and my find rate since then has been better than it was 4 years ago. That said I have only averaged 2 silver halves per box since May, which is okay, but not great.

@Seattlite86, I believe your searches have resulted in better nickel, and silver returns than you would find in the US, congrats!

I 100% agree that I will never find better results coin roll hunting in the US than I do here in Europe. I might just have to hang up my hat when I leave here, haha.

1 of 4 banks tonight yielded $50 CWR halves...All the rolls were marked by another local searcher I call “Mr. Z”:meh::

    chucklenut what’s a 1987 HD? I’ve found several 1987 D’s and P’s.

You must look through more than one (and likely many more than one) box to increase your odds of finding the 1987's or a silver coin(s).

I would say HD in this context likely means half dollar. I would have to check my stats but I'm pretty sure I found a 1987D half before one time. I don't really go through boxes (as they are tedious to go through and are like boat anchors) so it would have come from a customer-wrapped roll.

Did $70 in CWR halves. Got 2x40%, and one '64. Also got one '87... I also bought a box of quarters, but haven't cracked it open yet.

First “box” (I rarely find any keepers in these bags of rolls) of halves for this week contained 4 different colors of MWRs (very odd in my area), and yielded:

    Blah, thumbs down.

I guess I'm a little slow understanding the obvious, until ya put it that way I didn't realize that the "K" must be "Kennedy"!
And yeah, where is the K-64??! or all of the F's!

While I'm deciphering the meaning of letter codes...
Anybody ever wonder what went wrong with Preparations A thru G?:angelic:

Haha :) It took me a minute to realize it as well. Sometimes codes are as straightforward as they seem. I can’t help wonder if there were more rolls somewhere and where they ended up.

Second and final bag of MWR halves with a similar mix of 4 different colored rolling papers as compared to the first bag this week was not a skunk!:

    68D
    87D
2 slightly MADs from the mid-90’s

    I’ll gladly take them!
