The filled in b is caused by a die chip which are actually quite common. I would first try soaking it in acetone and see if that will work.

1 $500 box of halves tonight yielded NUMEROUS coins with pink fingernail polish marking the sides, including 2 of the 3 coins I’ll keep:
    ‘87D
    ‘72S Cu-Ni proof
    Bicentennial with a rim cud

Seeing all the marked coins was disheartening, but typical. I’m pleased I found something
    worth keeping!

I have 1 more box to search, then there should be 2 more boxes waiting for me late tomorrow, but maybe not given the bank holiday Wednesday...

Picked up the extra two boxes from last week and with the holiday, my other 12 boxes.

Not as spectacular as last week but still 20ounces. That’s 99.4 ounces in the last seven days. These boxes always make up for the long 52 box skunk streaks.

    Today
    100-40% JFK
    15- 90% JFK
    1-Walker
    1-Franklin
    1-87D
    6-mixed year impaired Proofs

No boxes until next Friday I’ll be on vacation!

    Enjoy the 4th

Hey Sam Carter fantastic score!!!! I miss those days. Well this is becoming much too common, Another 4 box skunk to the start of my seek. I wonder how long this skunk streak is going to last? I believe that is 28 boxes in a row without any silver. I will just keep rolling along.

The last 3 boxed halves (including today's) have been devoid of silver:spitoutdummy:
But today's box set a record for me for NIFCs (41), including a 1971-S & 1987-D. Some of the 2002+ coins will be upgrades to my duplicate tubes, the rest will go back to the wild!

Stopped by the bank that should have had 2 boxes of halves waiting for me after work. This is the bank with my favorite head teller who ordered halves for me this week without my touching base with her. She told me the courier hadn’t arrived yet, probably because the holiday tomorrow, but she had good news: The courier will have my boxes of halves AND 500 large dollars for me when they deliver!

I asked her to please call me when the halves and dollar coins arrive. I’ll bring her a coffee card when I pick up everything :)

    She’s great!:D

3 other banks had only $10.50 in loose halves:
‘73S Cu-Ni clad proof (pristine condition)

    I’ll take it!

How do you manage to get so many large dollars?

@TexAg I have found a head teller who knows “the girls” at the local coin courier office. On my behalf she occasionally calls “the girls” and asks for large dollar coins. This week they told her they had 500, and they would add them to her order.

They thought they had more, but weren’t certain, so they told her they would get back to her next week.

The head teller told me the first 500 were definitely for me. If she can get more, then she’ll share some with the other tellers she works with who also want a few.

@berto , you are a lucky duck! I wish I had a head teller like yours with the contacts she has. Great going establishing that relationship, I hope you reap some silver Ikes (and even some Morgan and Peace dollars). Keep us posted!

@TexAg I have realistic expectations I’ll receive Ikes with a few gem coins mixed in as I have in the past. I’ll report any finds here.

    Enjoy the holiday everyone!

Does your bank mind taking back the $1.00 coins? TY.

I will not return the Ikes to this bank. I’ll locally, or via the internet, sell the ones I don’t want. If it’s too much work for too little return on investment, then I’ll return the Ikes to a bank I know where a head teller collects them. She will appreciate them.

Cheech9712 Every thing is a guess

If your asking about sacagawea susan b. Or president coins. Buy all means. Silver dollars no way. Worth way over face value. Google the ikes. Those might be worth a tad more. Saccagawea and president dollars have the dates on the rims with mint marks. All s mint marks are normal. Google will help you alot. Make it easier for what you might want to keep. If not. Roll them up and hand them in. Cheech

I finished searching the last box of halves I had on hand. At least half the coins were marked on the edge with pink fingernail polish, ugh...Discouraging. Managed to find:
    ‘87D
6 NIFC, 4 of which were marked with pink nail polish :vomit:

So far things are not getting better and only time will tell. Picked up 8 boxes today, and all 8 boxes skunked. The Feds are quick turning my dumps, Had several coins I marked from 6/20/18. I think they are trying to discourage me LOL. In the past I rarely ever saw coins I dump and now its very common. There is always next week, and the week after. I just hope I don't hit 100 skunks in a row. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Please keep sharing you posts they help keep me motivated.

Update on my Ike order: My 2 boxes of halves arrived at the bank today, but the Ikes didn’t. Head teller said the Ikes are coming from a location separate from the regular bank courier, so they may not arrive until next week. She was apologetic, but I don’t mind waiting because I know when they arrive she’ll call me and they’ll be mine, ALL MINE! Just kidding :joyful:

Ended a 3 box skunk streak by buying the 2nd NF String box from the bank that produced 41 NIFCs from the 1st box. Not as many NIFCs (6 including a 1976-S impaired proof), but did find a lone 1969-D. I had sworn off of NF String boxes (white and yellow wrappers in a flat box with holes in the bottom to verify the box is full), but I had a hard time finding Loomis boxes this week. Hopefully, will be able to get more boxes next week.
