Or, even easier, nickels at $100 dollars a box. Plus, you could always ask if they have halves. Most likely they'll only have 100 or less dollars worth.

All the coins you want are within reach!

$126 CWR Nickels: Skunked for war nickels, but pulled 28 pre-'59 coins out of circulation and into my little hoard, and added a 92-P off center

    $450 CWR Dimes: '49 Roosie

$20 CWR cents that I haven't gotten to yet

Whelp. My CU didn't order coin for me this week. I spoke to someone and the regional manager decided to no longer order bulk coin for members. My wife suggested opening a business account. Not sure what that would entail though. Anyone with knowledge in that field?

FF, that happened to me with one particular bank...I just found two more different banks that would order and now use the first bank as a dump

$350 in CWR halves. Absolutely nothing. 2 full plus 1/3 Loomis dime boxes absolutely nothing. When it rains it pours, but when its dry its dry as a soup sandwich! I drove to the next county to pick up the halves to some tiny town. I thought at least some of them would be good....it was clearly a DUMP

I am not as familiar with credit unions but you're quite likely looking for trouble with opening a business account. You could be required to pay a monthly fee to maintain the account and you'd likely be hit with having to pay a per box fee for having coins ordered as well.

Such fees are likely steep. I was once quoted a fee of $7.50 to order a box of cents from a bank. It may be worthwhile to ask your CU about these things and go from there but you're likely better off buying from other financial institutions and making this CU into your dump location.

So I bought a OBW 1963 roll and went through the roll and found 10 of these; they have all the die markers and the teeth. All FS-401 Bugs Bunny Variety. A great find.

@furryfrog02, I would avoid opening a business account due to inherent fees. Sorry to hear your coin ordering plan changed. I am confident there are many other financial institutions in your area, so this hiccup will not slow you down beyond this week.

It is dump day for me again today. I deposited a bunch of half dollar rolls at a bank branch last week and forgot to get my driving license back at the end of the transaction, so they'll be getting another bunch of halves today while I am there to pick up my license!

I have 2 more boxes of halves to search. One of the boxes was taped shut with clear packing tape, which is not the type of tape Loomis uses in my area. I cut the tape this morning, opened the box, and found one visible roll had been opened and the paper hand-folded back over the top of the roll. I checked the other rolls and they are intact. I bet a teller opened the box, saw a silver coin, pulled the coin from the end of the roll, replaced it with Cu-Ni clad, and then taped the box shut. Pretty pathetic, but oh well, nothing I can do about it. If there was an ender, then there should be other silvers somewhere in the box. I will let you know!

I think, just for sport, I'm going to start paying with dollar coins and $2 bills to see just how many people don't have a clue that this is still legal tender. I think (however ridiculous it may seem) the more we do this, the more we can hand on to modern numismatics as we know it. Even if we do only catch a handful of people's interest!

I found this 1983 "P" lincoln cent with a filled in "B" in Liberty. This was a CRH find. I was contemplating posting this in the error coins forum but I did find it CRH and it's not a major find. Does anyone have any ideas to take the cancer off the coin before I put it in storage? fullsizeoutput_d08.jpeg IMG_5820.JPG IMG_5821.JPG

Would any of you guys recommend/advise against any particular banks? I have a CU that has free coin machines and I'd like to keep them as a dump bank. I have nearby access to BofA, BB&T, PNC, SunTrust, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, so on and so forth.

I am not just looking to do this for the $$ as I'm sure most of you know. This is a super fun hobby for me and it really helps me manage my anxiety by having something else to focus on. I would very much like to continue and am willing to move funds around to an institution that will help me out.

Any of your input would be greatly appreciated.

I do not do as large transactions as you do furry, however i have been to all the banks on your list. Judging just from teller interactions (friendliness, willingless to help, willingness to order).
Chase is a hit or miss in terms of ordering. 1 Branch theyll order anything for me, while another will only order halves, and another none at all. Tellers are consitantly nice though.
Wells Fargo- Only positive experiences with them. Planning on opening my next account here.
Bank of America- Consistantly nice tellers, willing to order.
PNC- Too much of salesmen to be honest.
Suntrust- I think they're linked with oceanfirst. I don't particuarly care for them. (I've been to one suntrust and one oceanfirst) I believe they have a coin counter though.
BB&T- Limited experience, most of them have small teller areas, makes me think they won't be able to order a lot.
TD- Honestly steer clear. 0 willingness to order halves. Semi willing to order boxes. Tellers are generally poor.
***EDIT*** I do not have accounts at all of these locations.

Thanks @ace71499 . I'd be willing to drop halves if I had constant access to boxes of cents. I like the halves for the silver obviously but beyond that, I have a full date/mm set of Kennedys and have managed to fill almost 2 full sets of Franklins so I'm good.

In my area I use PNC(Loomis)as my pick up and CU as a dump. Same here coinmachine is free.

I’ve used Suntrust (Loomis) will order but don’t use them very often, hit or miss, one will one wont.

BBT here will but like Suntrust hit or miss and rarely use them (Brinks)

Don’t have a Chase, don’t have an account at BoA or WellsFargo.

Change your pick to another bank, I set up a custodial account for my daughter with a $25 savings account at BBT, Suntrust and PNc

I honestly think it depends alot on the people that are at the bank. I travel a lot in I would say about a 500 mile radius and I visit BOA, M&T and APGFCU. Every branch has different attitudes and different ways to deal with the customers. I think if you find a genuinely nice associate who can make things happen in regards to ordering boxes or asking for boxes of other denominations then you favorite the bank and do what you can to make them look good. Open an account. Put most of your money in there, whatever you can to help them out. My grandfather always said that you should treat others as you would like to be treated and when you find that bank,...........well you better take care of them how you want to be taken care of!

I am very good to my (former) pick up CU as well as my dump banks. They all know me and are super friendly. They save foreign coins for my son and I bring them chocolates. This situation didn't come from anyone at the branch which is a bit frustrating. If it was just the branch I could easily go to another one. The regional manager bit makes it tougher since I won't be able to use them at all.

I have my mortgage, over $50k in cash, have a $40k car loan, a $12k Home Equity loan, and have had 2 other car loans through them. I know that may not be a lot by most standards but I feel like it is a decent chunk of change.

Use this as leverage against them. Complain to the regional office and mention all you have with them. If that fails go above them. If nothing comes from going to either then give an ultimatum: resume coin orders or you'll be taking your business elsewhere. This may be more easily said than done but you surely won't have much to lose by at least bluffing them.

I found a bank that will let me order half dollar boxes (finally). Someone I know has a business account there and they let them buy half dollar boxes :D...
Is this normal? I think it is pretty good for my first time.

    5 - 40% silver
    1 - Walker 90% silver

I had a good day today. Drove to the next town over to buy 3 partially filled bags of halves off of their coin machines. Also picked up a lone 1967 from a teller for a total of 22 silvers (1 90%):
    Bag 1 = $88: (1) 90%, (6) 40%
    Bag 2 = $198: (3) 40%
    Bag 3 = $253: (11) 40%, (1) Swiss 5 Franc Coin
Here’s pictures from the 3 bags. These silvers helped me surpass the 1000 silver half dollar mark in the 1-1/2 years since I started CRH!:woot:
