Last month, I decided to get out of town and do some camping for a few days. Found a small park about 3 hours from here and enjoyed spending some time just getting away from everything! The park was located next to a small town. By small, I mean 2 blocks wide and 4 blocks long. It didn't even have a stop light. The only eateries were a pair of mom-and-pop places. But the place did have a bank -- and it wasn't one of the big national chains. So I stopped in on my way out of town and asked if they had any half dollars. The teller immediately said yes and went to check. She came back and said they had $400 dollars worth.

The head teller (I presume) then said that she would love for me to take them as she got tired of counting them every day and that they had been sitting there for a long time. Of course, that was music to my ears! When I got them, I noticed that they were all customer-wrapped. CWR and long-sitters -- two very hopeful signs. As I drove back home with the rolls, visions of rolls of Walkers were going through my head.

Sadly, it wasn't to be. It wasn't a total skunk but there was nothing to really get excited about. There were 3 40%'ers and 6 NIFC's: a 12D, 02P, 08P, and (curiously) THREE 08D's. (The presence of the 2012 tells me her definition of "a long time" and my definition are entirely different).

But this experience has given me a new idea. I'm going to keep getting the boxes of MWR's from my local bank but there are literally dozens of small regional and country banks within a 2 hour drive of my location that probably have rolls sitting in the vaults. I think I'm going to start checking out a few of those when I have time.

US Bank is. They barely give any holidays off to their employees (fun fact) as well. They’re givers!

TD bank near me is as well. They suck though. Customer service is atrocious. Just about as bad as Suntrust. I prefer to steer clear.

We have US Bank in our area but they are closed on Sundays. Must be a regional thing.

I thought i was the only one who had bad experiences as TD Bank. I swear ive never been to one that actually had good service. Glad to see someone in the same boat. I have only been to one Suntrust twice, one time was bad one time was good. Too small of a sample size to say anything about the bank as a whole.

Ive had overall great experiences with Wells Fargo and Chase. I've been to countless of those and definitely can say their service is top notch! I don't even have an account at Wells Fargo and I'd venture to say that they treat me better than at Chase!

Uggg. Well, the forum just ate a lengthy post, so I'll skip to the good stuff. This week: 24 wheats, and 3 Roosie dimes. Most interesting find was what appears to be a clipped planchet cent.

$20 MWR nickels: 1943-P (I swear 75% of my war nickel finds are 43-P), a few other unexciting mid-late 50s dates.

    $10 mixed MWR & HWR pennies: 1919-S (looks cleaned but I'll take it!), also a 1939 and 1944 in the same roll. The other rolls gave up 1940, 1944, 1951, 1952, 1955 (x2), 1955-D, 1958-D, 9 Canada (oldest 1971), 3 x 2009 (all P mint Lincoln sitting on log), a few BU 60s & 70s coins
