    3 banks tonight had $71.50 in CWR and loose halves.

    The teller who sold me $60 worth of the CWR halves informed me another collector had already searched them, but I bought them anyway to be polite.

    I should have next week's boxes coming in on Friday. Hoping things are good.

    My kid came home not feeling well after school. Was laying on the couch and mentioned feeling like he was going to puke. I told him to quick go to the bathroom, he made it to the hallway before puking all over my bags of coins waiting to go to the bank tomorrow....Needless to say this has not been a great evening in our household lol.

    2 boxes of halves yielded a '61 and '67 in the first and nothing in the second.

    Good thing is the bank I went to will now order me two boxes a week. I am back up to 4-6 boxes a week total. Only downside is all the dumping. I am confident with my volume up I can see some traction again.

    Went to a bank on my route back from school. 2 non collectable kennedies, but the teller and i now have a budding relationship, which will be good in the long run.

    Long story:

    The only bank I stopped at yesterday that had no halves had a very friendly (and beautiful) young teller. She and I chatted for a few minutes yesterday and she mentioned she would save any halves for me, but she’d worked there two months and hadn’t received a single half dollar. When she mentioned she was willing to save any halves for me I offered my name and phone number and she accepted it. She told me she would call me if anyone brought in halves. Readers, don’t get the wrong idea here because I’m old enough to be her father!

    Anyhow, today my phone rang and lo and behold it was her, and she was very excited! She told me she had 1 half dollar. I was immediately suspicious it was a common, crummy Cu-Ni clad coin, so I politely asked her to describe it to me.

    She said it had George Washington on it. Then I knew it was a commemorative, so I asked if it was silver. She said she knew nothing about coins, so she couldn’t tell. I told her no matter, I would stop by and pick it up on my way home from work. Thanked her, and hung up.

    I later arrived at the bank and she was all smiles when she saw me. She pulled out the coin and I was shocked to see it was the SILVER 250th anniversary commemorative!

    I slid two common quarters across the counter and told her the coin is worth more than these two quarters. She said she had googled the half dollar after our phone call and thought it was worth about $9, but she insisted on selling it to me for only face value.

    I told her if she called me with more good coins in the future I’d make it worthwhile for her. She said it may be a few months because she had only received the single half dollar so far. But I assured her I would be happy to hear from her. We chatted for a few more minutes and then I left.

    I’m really happy with the coin and will repay her generosity next time she calls me.

    HH everyone!

    Nice going Berto! By establishing a relationship with this teller, I hope you benefit with even more sweet coins in the future.

    @TexAg

    I'll be heading down to Western Texas in the oil patch Next month. Driving. Plan on staying in Lubbock, then Midland and Odessa, then Pecos. You familiar with any of these areas? I have hunted before in Lubbock and had a nice score from a teller tray.

    I have been hunting cents for a few years now. From time to time I ask if they have any halves when I go up to the counter and the answer is always, no. I asked out of the blue the other day when I was cashing in my change at my credit union if they had any of the dollar coins. She said yes and handed me a roll of Polk dollars. Nice, even found an error in there. Today, I went to one of my banks to cash a check and asked if they had any halves or dollars. She said I have a few halves and the only dollar coins I have are the large ones if you want those. (HECK YES I want those!!!)I said sure, I'll take them. How exciting that I got my first small amount of halves AND Ike dollars. $10 in halves and I have 1-1967 and about half of them are bicentennials (which I collect) and the Ikes are all different years. I love the Ike's but don't concentrate enough on them to know what to look for. They've seen their better days but I'll still take them!!!
