Two boxes of dimes first took my dime skunk streak to 8 boxes...The second had a 64 and a 51 so that was nice...Went to pick up this weeks two boxes of halves and scored 2 Ben Franks, and 67 JFK and a 68 JFK from the teller tray...The two boxes of halves themselves weren't great. First was a skunk. Second had 2 1968's One of them is quite odd..IT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE A CLAD ON THE EDGE. FULL COPPER RIM. I cant understand this....I'll post pics...please comment and tell me what is going on with this 1968 JFK with the copper edge. The first picture is the all the silver I found today...the second picture is of the front of the 1968 JFK in question...the third and fourth pictures are of the rim of that same 1968 JFK. 12-22-17.JPG copper rim.JPG copper rim 2.JPG copper rim 3.JPG

Found a 1938 penny in a roll from the box.
I'm up to 11 rolls of copper with 5 marks, 7 with 4, 3 with 3,6 with 2 and 8 with 1. The worst penny in the 1 rolls is no worse than 70%. The 5 have 98% +.

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

I was on the hunt for the elusive 2005 speared bison nickels a while back, but instead of finding any (big surprise huh), I did come across about a roll's worth of what I think could be DDR's? They have a definitive extra layer to the shoulder hump and doubling at the tail. The engraver's initials appear to have a die chip also. One of these days I just might send out a couple for verification.

Got a call from the bank today that my order for NEXT week came in TODAY. Went and picked it up. I think my Christmas present was last week because this week I got coal. 6 boxes of skunks. But at least the 4 boxes of cents look to be a good mix so fingers crossed there is something fun in there.

Whenever I go to PNC bank to ask for coin rolls, all they ever do is laugh at me.
And say, "We only have brand new rolled coins."
I have an account with PNC, do you think I could go to US Bank and ask for rolls there, without having a bank account with US Bank?

    Thanks,

Andy, I’ve found it depends on the teller who helps you. Some won’t ask if you have an account, others will. It will likely also depend on whether you ask for 50+ rolls or only 10.

Bhh, your 40%er is perfectly normal. The silver cladding is thin around the edge and will eventually wear through, which it has on the coin you found.

Thanks berto. I have just never seen that line blazing copper color. It’s always been like a charcoal gray. Stay the course my friend. Run the race. Keep fighting the good fight. Despite that I’m sure according to bank tellers coin roll hunters are one step below vermin in their mind and half searches are just barely a half step above people who kill kittens for fun. Getting 2 Bens for a teller tray along with two forties is sweet.

    Merry Christmas

The penny rolls I'm making for the box get a shiny shield at the bottom, a shiny penny at the top and a minimum of 6 copper.
Found a pretty decent 1946 which I needed.
I keep plugging away at it.

My half boxes were crap but the cent boxes are turning out to be pretty good.
My first box had 27 wheats (oldest 1935), 1975 rim CUD, 1975P Counterstamped with what I "think" is the signing of the Decleration of Independence, and a 2000 WAM (my 70th).

What do you think of the counterstamp? I found a similar picture on another forum that said it was the signing.

$240 in CWRs from 1 bank tonight yielded 1 impaired bicentennial Cu-Ni proof.

I’ve $220 in MWRs from the same bank, so I’ll report here after I search them. They’re new Loomis rolls with green ink, which is a first around here...Not real optimistic.

Finished what is probably my last box of 2017. $100 of MWR Loomis nickels yielded 15 "keepers" (anything prior to 1960). Another two 1940's (these are still by far the most common early date), another half dozen from the late 40's, and seven from the 50's. A lower yield than most nickel boxes and it drops my "keeper" percentage on nickels to 1.2% or a little over 1 nickel for every two rolls searched.

The $220 in Loomis half rolls with the new green ink were a skunk. Many of the coins had rolling machine scratches, yuck.

I’ll try again after my vacation next week.

    HH all!

I had a pretty good time going back to the bank for the rest of the 250 in halves. Just getting around to posting it now... but I got a great score! I ended up with 16 40%ers and 1 90%er. I haven't hit one of these in a while so I am very happy!
    20171224_173556.jpg
And 2 of the 40%ers were bicentennials! 1 proof and 1 uncirculated! I'm happy! Good luck to everyone else!

I'll try this. I get pennies from 2010 to 2017 that are for all intents and purposes uncirculated. Even though they come out of rolls they never got bag rash. Similar stuff with nickels, dimes and quarters. It happens, but how to explain it.

Additionally I get some copper that is pretty much perfect.

Finished my last box of cents. It was a doozie. I've rarely had over 20 wheats. This box had 47. Also there was a 1941 Canadian KGVI and a 1976S Proof. Good times :)
