Also finished up another $100 box of nickels, again all Loomis. This box fared much better for pickers than the box of cents from the previous post. Started out with 4 QE Canadians. Then found a LOT Of pre-60's.
    1938
    1939
    1940 x5
    1940D
    1941 x4
    1941D x2
    1942
    1942D
and another 21 from post 1945. I was surprised by the number of pre-WW2's that were found.

But the two best finds were totally unexpected. Came across a 1923 Buffalo. The "19" was gone but the "23" was clearly visible. Sadly, it had a bit of corrosion on the obverse. Still, pretty neat to pull a buffalo out of a roll of nickels.

The other find was a 1996P nickel that is slightly off-center. It is shifted NW from the 4 o'clock to the 10 o'clock position (from the obverse perspective) and the off-centering is on both sides. The shift is slight but it is significant enough that the top of the last three letters in "TRUST" are missing. I have no idea how to calculate percentage of "off-centeredness" but I don't believe it is enough to give the coin a premium. But I'll 2x2 and hold on to it just as a curiosity piece.

We worked with the AC yesterday. I didn't get a chance to go trade rolls. Nothing earth shattering from what I've looked at

I am not a expert in coin errors, I would ask Paddyman, but I don't know how that would even happen without some other visible errors.

Went through another $110 of dimes from the CU and found my usual, a single silver Rosie, 1947-D this time. With dimes, I seem to have about the same luck regardless of whether they're CWR or MWR.

$110 in CWR halves. Nothing of note... was weird they were kinda sorted into dates before rolled.

2017-10-02 15.47.16.jpg This is why I keep plugging away on Loomis rolls.

6 boxes of halves: 1 lone 68D and 3 Proofs. Not a complete skunk but I'm going to put it in the skunk column. 12 box streak going...

Those streaks can be rough. I think my longest skunk streak was 16. Caused me to take a couple of weeks off.

At least 12 boxes is only 2 weeks worth. I just popped open the nickel boxes and there is a reverse buff ender so fingers crossed that'll be a fun box.

Sweet! I have only done a box of nickels once. Makes me want to do one. What should I look for besides Buffalos and War Nickels?

  20. I've found Liberty " V" nickels in rolls b4....I'd imagine you could catch a shield nickel too, a long shot I guess....Don't think the size or weight are different, if so not by much....

I knew it was bound to happen eventually. Picked up a box of cents on the way home from work. Got home, opened it up, and there were 50 rolls of bright, shiny, 2017D cents staring up at me. I'll unwrap them, dump them in my "deposit" bank, and try again tomorrow. (If I'm going to get rolls of uncirculateds, why can't it be something a bit older???)
