I just got back to work after a tough week (my dad has just passed away and I went back home for the funeral) and I was back at my register, thinking about dad. His favorite coin was the mercury dime. He had a roll of them stolen form his house long before I was born. I was thinking how cool it would be to find a merc dime that day. I has a lady give me a roll of dimes and when i opened it I found 10 silver dimes including a 1943 merc! I smiled and said "thanks dad!"

    2009S or 2009S silver

How do I tell if the 2009S half is silver or not?

Look at the edge of the coin. If you see any copper color, it's not silver... if the edge is solid bright silver color, then it's probably silver :)

Look at the edge for the copper.

The other think you can do is flip (with a lot of rotation) a known clad coin in the air (catch it or do it over a very soft surface), and flip a known 40%er. The silver has a very distinct (and may I add, very beautiful) ring to it. Then flip your 09s. You'll know immediately. I LOVE the sound of silver!!!!!!

Me? I went to two banks yesterday and at one found a brinks box with only 5 rolls taken out and at the other another $15. So, for my $465 of halves.........ZERO silver.

I did find my THIRD 1982 "no FG" error so it wasn't a total shutout.

I made the In-laws haul back 10 rolls of quarters and 5 each of dimes and nickels form their 5th wheel trip out east. I found 1 silver dime and 1 silver quarter as well as completed my 3rd state quarter album....I sure hope I don't get another state quarter album for christmas! :)

I still have an unopened box of cents to search from the same haul.

Went through the box of Halves found 1-66,3-67,1-68,1-69. One roll had a 67 heads up on the end. I think that was pretty good for my first box. No proofs and nothing after 2000, but 6 40%ers was cool.
