Had my worse bag of dimes ever today, got 2 silver Roosevelt, which is my lowest, but the bag ended up being $6 short. When I took it back.

I'm still missing 8 nickels in my book. Well also missing most proofs, though I have found 4 or 5 proofs. The 38-S, 39-S, and 50-D have been particularly hard to find. Also missing 5 of the more rare silver D and S coins.

    Keeps me looking. :)

I am having a hard time finding some of the silver nickels in high grade, i have found 2 that are just perfect and a handful of nice once that have started to turn greenish. So far this year since September I have went through over $15000 in nickels, and i have only found a few of those rarer ones, the 1950-d seems to be extra hard, ive only gotten 1 of those so far, it just happened to be in MS condition.

That's a fair number of nickels Garrett. You're very lucky to have access to those coin bags. I go through about 1-2 boxes of nickels per week, when I'm not out of town. Have found a dozen or so early coins in nearly uncirculated condition, but most are much nore worn. Only one of my silver nickels is approximately AU condition.

There just aren't that many old coins in my bank in this region. The ones I find are usually quite worn. But... over time my collection is slowly getting better.

I really need to join another bank, so I have access to more coins. Have to pick a national bank, so I can buy coins on vacation too. :)

I am a member of 8 different banks that let me buy there bags of coins out of there machines, it took a while to find some that will sell me the fed bags of coins they would sell to Brinks, but I have better luck with those than boxes, I get normally about 6 bags or either nickels, dimes or halves and week with 2 boxes of halves. My dumping bank doesn't mind if I take back one bag a day so thats what I try to stick to. I have done this year since September, 50 $50 bags of pennies, 75 $200 bags of nickels, 32 $1000 bags of dimes, 4 $1000 bags of Quarters, 3 $1000 bags or halves and 7 $500 boxes of halves which i just started doing. I was trying to see if I could get through over a million coins in a year. But I stopped doing pennies lately.

Well, it finally happened. I got more silver out of a box of nickels than out of two boxes of halves...3 war nickels vs one 40%. If you like the year 1961 you'll like my cent box... 20150714_223007.jpg

"Outstanding!! Appears much better than sorting thru Bank boxes. If you Would ?? How does the "Bank" establish a price for the bags? Do you have accounts at the Banks or just drop off some trinkets from time to time?
To my knowledge, the banks in naples (at least my bank) ship the coins to the armored car service in account labeled plastic bags who then count and wrap the coins. Then, a credit to my account is issued by the bank for the coins submitted.
Don't bother with the "cents"; it's off to Walmart and Constar with the bag of cents for a Starbuck's credit or whom ever Constar has a Marketing deal with that month. There are always 2 to 4 Company's whose products I buy i.e Lowes , so I receive back a dollar credit for each 100 coins. Works for me.
But I like your Bank arrangement much better !!!

I offered to buy the bags from the bank for the face value of what should be on the bags, such as $1000 for dimes, ect. Sometimes they are off by a little because some odd stuff gets in them, but I just pay cash for the bags and take the coins back to a much bigger bank that lets me dump a bag a day with them, and they just give me cash when I take the change back. I have accounts set up with all the banks I deal with but only keep the minimal amount in the accounts. The only time I am ever short or have to pay anything is if the bag come out short, which normally is no more than a dollar (besides my last one) and I have never found less than 2 silver dimes in a bag so that always covers it.

Post 2002s are called NIFCs: not intended for circulation. Nice finds in those two boxes!

When turning in a bag of halves and a bag of cents the teller asked me if I wanted the halves she had in her tray because some of them were shiny. I said sure, I will take all you have. Out of 18, 11 were 40%. She also said her neighboring teller had saved a dime for me...1947-S. Another teller saved me two red seal 1928 $2 bills. A good day at the bank.

    Two boxes halves: 10-40% (3-65, 2-66, 4-67, 1-68D). 3-NIFC.
