You're all having good luck finding war nickels. I've searched hundreds of rolls of nickels at work and I've only found three war nickels the whole time. The first two were in consecutive rolls. They were 1943-Ps and there was also a 1946 nickel in each roll. What a coincidence. There have been lots of strange coincidences finding coins at work.

The majority of coins I search are not from bank rolls, but from local delis and newstands. They tend to throw the cents and nickels into a bucket, and then plan to one day dump them at the bank. Most do, but alot do not. I have 8 regular stops now that save them for me.

Three boxes of Loomis halves today.
Box 1:Found a coin I had never before found...1970-D! I was quite excited. In the same box were 10 other 40% and one Franklin. Also a 1985-S proof.
    Box 2: Three 40%.
Box 3: No silver, one 1976-s proof.

    Second box- 3 40% (68D), 8- NIFC (02D, 03D, 03P, 04D, 05D, 08D, 08P, 10P)
    Proofs- 15 (71S, Bicentennial S, 96S, 99S, 00S, 01S (3), 02S (2), 03S (3), 05S, 06S)

Obviously someone cashed in a batch of proofs.

Is the SBA dollar a wide rim? I've found two of them in circulation in good shape. They're worth at least $10 and up to $60 in BU condition.

Another disappointing box of BWR pennies. I found only 4 wheats ('42-S, '51-D, '58Dx2); and 13 memorial pennies that I saved ('59-Dx3, '59x2, '60-Dx3, '60, '68-S, '70-S large date, '72-Sx2). Somebody has obviously gone through these cents and removed all the wheats and returned them to the bank where they were rolled. Oh well, at least I found 4 wheats.

Yesterday I went through another box of BWR pennies and got nearly skunked as far as wheats go. Here's what I found:

    1938-S, 1953, 1954-D, 1956-D, 1959, 1959-Dx2. 1960-Dx4, 1968-S, 1970-S (large date), 1971-S, 1974-S.

These pennies have obviously been gone through. I got nearly as lucky at work today finding wheats (1942, 1946-D, 1950-D).

    $30 in BWR nickels:

    1940, 1943-P, 1947, 1949, 1953-D, 1954-Dx2, 1957-D, 1958-D, 1959-D, 1960-D, 2009-Dx5

The war nickel was a nice find. It's rough but it's silver and you all know how much I like silver.

Working offsite in North NJ found one of my biggest scores ever. Full roll of silver quarters 1940-1960s. Amazing. My jaw dropped when I saw a silver ender. I had a hunch too. Even had to make an emergency trip to find an ATM. Glad I checked before I dumped it into the drawer!

I forgot to mention that I found a bunch of '64 nickels which is par for the course in nickel hunting.

Haven't been reporting finds, too busy most of the time apparently. Today I got $40 worth of CWR nickels at the credit union - found my very firstest 1950-D and it is a nice AU example with golden toning. Finally, finally finally I have found every date and mintmark of the Jefferson series.

Yesterday, I purchased 13 rolls of nickels and 20 rolls of pennies. Here's what I found:

    wheats:

    1941
    1944
    1948
    1952
    1952-D
    1953-Dx2
    1954-D
    1955-D

    memorials:

    1959-D
    1960-Dx3
    1968-S
    1969-S
    1970-S large date x2

There was also a 1965 Colombian 2 centavos coin in one of the rolls.

    nickels:

    1942-D (not a war nickel)
    1958-Dx2
    1960x2

    2009-Dx3

9 wheats in 20 rolls ain't bad. I certainly had better luck with this batch than the last two boxes I bought. The Colombian coin was an unexpected surprise.
