Stopped by a bank near where my parents live. Picked up $100 CWR halves. Found 4x40% including what looks like a 1967 SMS but not sure.

Today at work I found this 1959 10 Centimos coin from Spain. Apparently this was the only year that this coin was minted. It's not worth anything but still nice to add to my foreign collection. IMG_5770.JPG IMG_5772.JPG

Long time lurker, so felt this would be the perfect time to start posting.. Ive been working at a bank for just under a year and got into roll searching and coins as a result.. Haven't had too much success, but every now and then a silver dime here or there..

That was until the day after xmas.. Had an elderly customer that I've known for some time who brought in some rolled coins. I joked that it must have taken him some time to roll his coin as he had maybe around 20 total rolls, mostly quarters.. I took his deposit and noticed that some rolls were older and the nickel rolls had 1940-1950 on the side..

Figured I'd take a quick look and opened the top of the nickel rolls and there it was.. A nice S mintmark above the dome.. sweet I thought, he gave me some old coins.. Now my interest had peaked as he brought in some old rolls of quarters.. opened the top of that roll... and well as you guessed.. silver.. I about died

I have been waiting for this day and was just joking with my brother that I was due

I set these rolls aside and sold them to the teller next to me to withdraw at lunch

Ended up with 4 FULL ROLLS OF SILVER QUARTERS
6 of which were standing liberties
    and around 33 war nickels..

Here are some photos I took..

TLDR: work at bank, customer deposited silver quarters and war nickels that I withdrew.. JACKPOT

Drove around town near where my in-laws live and asked for halves. After visiting about a dozen banks, I found $570 worth of crw halves. All skunks. :( oh well.

Well, 2013 is drawing to a close. Below are my results. Not much silver, by weight, because I chose to look for dimes instead of halves this year, but still a lot of fun!

War nickels: 96 for 5+ ounces

    Dimes: 348 for 25+ ounces

Quarters: 29 for 5+ ounces! Not bad because I only bought $600 in rolls (all the rest from teller trays or coin counting machines.

    Halves: 87 90% (including 1 1898, 5 walkers and 10 Bennies) and 450 40%ers

All told, a total of 1010 silver coins and about 134 ounces. Much less than last year because dimes are so much harder to find and add up to so much less weight. But I now have over 8 full rolls of silver dimes counting the few I found last year!

    Other highlights:
    1. An 1893-S Morgan dollar I bought for $15 from the guy behind me in a teller line without knowing what it was!
    2. The 1898 Columbian Exposition half dollar I got in a bag of halves from a coin counting machine
    3. 24+ Mercury dimes included above (I did not keep a count of all of them)
    4. 5+ V nickels including an 1894 in nice condition(and too many buffalos to keep track of)
    5. 6+ Indian head pennies
There is so much less silver around that I won't be looking as much in 2014. But I am sure the bug will bite at least a few times...

Good luck all and Happy New Year!

What a find! You were lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. This find puts all my finds to shame.

With it being the last day of 2013 and having taken most of December off, I decided to go at it and search as much as I could to finish my 2013 numbers. I drove around to three different towns looking for CWR of coins. Here are today's results:

    $200 Nickels: 1923 Buff, 2xWars (1943P, 1945P), 1949S, 1950, 1953S, 2009P, 3xCND (1984, 1986, 1993), 1997 $1 Estados Unidos Mexicanos Coin

    $105 Dimes: 1964 Roosie

    $70 Quarters: Skunk

    $1100 Halves: 5 Silver Coins (2x90% (1951D Franklin, 1964), 3x40%)

    Image320.jpg

This brings my 2013 total to 454 Silver Coins for 2013. I will be giving the breakdown of my 2013 totals on the 2013 End of Year post.

Just finished off the box of cents I was working on before going away for Christmas... It turned out to be a real dog of a box.

    1953, 1953-D, 1955-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, 1959 (x2), 1959-D (x2)...

    Canadian: 1952, 1974, 1975, 1982, 1984...

and 521 pre-83 copper cents for the bucket.
