Yeah, proof nickels, though not worth much, are always fun to find.

Not easy to come by, either. I've only found one proof nickel in 20 to 30 boxes worth.

 

$15 in dimes - 1 46 Rosie

 

This is my first time "roll hunting"... Had some trouble at the local bank, NOT wanting to order me boxes of 1/2 dollars. I had to make some phone calls and some E-mails but they relented and said they would order them for me. I just did my 4th box tonight and have been "skunked" so far....

I had no time to look for coins today, BUT a teller called to tell me she had 120 in halves. So I went to pick them up.

Turned out she had only 20, not 120, in halves. So I got the two rolls and decided to get a single box of dimes. Glad I did!

Wound up with two Franklins, a 1968-D and 9 silver dimes!

 

Where are you located? You've been asked this several times and every time, you avoid the question. I'm assuming given the amount of silver you find, you're probably somewhere in the northeast. You've also apparently never been skunked, which I find... interesting.

 

Who said I have never been skunked? I just never post when I am skunked. As for location, I travel for my job. I just drove cross country. The two rolls of 1964 halves I found came from Louisiana...after visiting many banks and skunked every time! I am happy you are finding so much with a lot of hard work. I am working hard, too! Be happy for me!

Hard time today. While waiting to pick up my halfs at 2 I went to another BOA. They were not helpful telling me all change was for business and not for customers. BS. Then i went to another BOA down the road and got a box of nickels. Then the dang coin counter stopped working at my dump bank. So i am stuck trying to get 500 in cash bc its all outta the bank in change and randomness. Got it all for nothing though . Skunk. I did get a nice 1937 Bufflo outta the nickels though. Oh well there is always tomorrow.

6 cwr of halves... nothing. Was sorting through pre '60 nickels that I have been pulling for a while. I found a '50d.

 

Box of Nickels: 30 pre-1960 and a 1974S proof. Filled a hole in my backup book.

Also, got a great deal today: Bought 3 rolls of 40s-60s nickels for $20. After looking through it, I found 32 war nickels!

 

Where did you buy the rolls?

 

A coworker recently purchased them in a junk silver deal and knew that I search nickels. I think I'm gonna give him more money next week. I feel bad.

Busy week at work this week only one box of halves and one box of nickels......essentially both skunk except for a beat up 78 proof half

Agreed....I've only found one and it surely didn't look as good as that one.

 

Not yet. Right now, I've got about 90.

 

Also got a Swiss 20 Rappen in that last nickel box.
