I feel like a teacher, first you match up the rims, a proof has a square rim, and a regular strike has a round rim, then i match up the lips, a regular strike has a straight up lower lip, and a proof has a more detail lower lip ! I'll post some photos of what I'm talking about: first is a photo of the obverse of a proof, with the lips, second is my coin, with photos of the lips, ( already have coin posted, that why i won't post the obverse ) and last is photos of the obverse, with the lips, of a regular strike ! photos of the proof, and regular strike are from pcgs, my is from my dino-scope 1909 proof 3.jpg 1909 proof (2).jpg A027 - 20130213_071756 (2).jpg 1909 regular strike 3.jpg 1909 regular strike (2).jpg

I see nothing to indicate that 1909 is a proof.

Just like you said that this wasn't a 1964 sms, I think you said something about scratches, die groves, and etc I think my answer to you was my dino-scope didn't take good enough photos, but you didn't believe ! so now I over exposed theses photos, looks like scratches, die groves A002 - 20130215_075659 (2).jpg A003 - 20130215_080151 (2).jpg

Ah heck, just send it in since that's what you want to do, then we'll know. You only have to convince PCGS. No one here will slab it and give it the SMS label anyway.

    Still not seeing anything.

Rick, what are the odds of one person finding a matte proof 1909 lincoln and two 1964 SMS dimes in circulation? I don't mean to be mean, but get real dude... you're seeing what you want to see, not what actually is there. I did the same thing... when I was 12.

I'm sitting at a dump bank I don't use often due to the fact that their coin counter is behind the counter and is operated by them. Any how I give the teller my dump halves and another lady tells her don't put them in the machine because since we have to count them later we might as well do it now. So they are hand counting all my halves instead of letting the machine do it and letting me leave. I guess I'll continue not using this dump bank!

    Rick,
My mother once told me that you cannot argue with a crazy woman using logic. I never realized that applied to men as well before today.

Your coins are common and some are damaged.

Just finished my 2 boxes of pennies. Blah. 6 wheats in the first, oldest 26. Second box had 2, a 41 & crud covered 53d. I was averaging 10-12 a box and the last couple of weeks have been getting hosed. It's sad/funny when you get more than double the amount of Canadians than you do wheats. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be good to me with prez dollars and quarters. Come on Zachary Taylor!
