Got two rolls of Guam quarters at the bank today. One will hit my coin club auction and fetch about $15 or so, then I'll decide on the other one...

While not a roll searching find, I was at the bank today, and the teller had 3 1964 Kennedy Halves. WooHoo! Best $1.50 I'll spend I'll spend all week.

If you are not straped for cash, I would hold them, for one they are only a 3 month coin, thats it never to be made again, look at the 1909 SVBD granted they will not be a $1000 penny any time soon, but the demand will be there as the same as all 4 of the pennys this year, next year they are going to be different and maybe eve steel coated copper like the Canadian, thro them in the back of the closet and when the are $20 a roll for real nice BU, then sell or save some for the grandkids....:thumb:

i'd dump the box, then buy 6 more boxes and increase your chances of finding another one.

Those boxes have steadily declined in value. I think it started off at over $400, then down to $300, down to $200, now at $150 or so. It'll probably keep dropping until it hits $75 IMO.

Keeping the thing for 30 years hoping it goes up in value doesn't really work if you're looking at it from a money making standpoint. It would need to appreciate by 5- 10% or so a year to keep up with inflation.

Uhhhh, are you comparing the 2009 cents to the 1909 S VDB... There is a HUGE difference there...

    1909 S VDB 404 Thousand
That is a rare key coin, not just in the series, but in numismatics as a whole, and then you try to compare the 2009 cents, to anything close to that! They might demand a premium, but in 100 years, they still won't be a $1000 coin.

Try WaMu.. They will order if you have an account... only$25 to open a FREE checking... talk to the branch manager.

I have one Wells Fargo that I goto and they told me they don't have any Half Dollars boxes in the vault so they can't order any. Made no sense to me since the other WF that I use is .5 mile down the street and both branches order from the same place. Also try your local Bank Of America, it may take of couple of branches before you find one that will order for you.

Nice finds in your first box also.

Every week I go through $70 of nickels and $20 of pennies. Here are some highlights:

A couple of weeks ago I found 2 1/2 rolls of nickels that were all in the 40's - 50's and 2 1939's. The total out of the $70 was 110 old nickels!

I've found an excellent 1938 nickel in AU condition.

A few moths ago I found a Buffalo nickel in XF condition.

I average about 20 wheaties per $20 of rolls. This week I found my 2 oldest pennies. A 1913 that was well worn and then this:

A 1881 Indian Head Penny. I never thought I would find an Indian Head penny in circulation so I was quite surprised. Even though its a bit rough, I'm still very happy.

Got 6 customer wrapped rolls of halves yesterday and was really surprised to find silver! 1 x 64-p, 2 x 66-p, 1 x 67-p, 4 x 68-d, 1 x 69-d and a 1958 Frankie. Very pleased as my bank does not have rolls of halves very often .....................................John.

how many are saving the copper pennies before 1981?? I just started saving and they aren't as common as I thought?? seems like when I looked for wheats back in the early 70's, I get a few here and there. I would guess in 5 more years they will be as hard to find as wheats are today
