The rejector magnets catch these too and many of the banks I know just toss that stuff. That's yet another reason it's rare to find one of them in a Fed roll, in spite of their high-mintages relative to other '40's cents. Poor little things, they're slowly disappearing in the trash.

I started roll searching in 1969. I raised 8 children and we all enjoyed roll searching at the dining room table after dinner many evenings. They loved finding wheaties but finding an Indian head was the best. if you found one you were 'king" or Queen" in our house. In my life time I've probably gone thru hundreds of thousands of pennies and have maybe found less than a dozen IH in regular circulated rolls. I haven't pulled one since the late 90's. I obviously still enjoy the hobby, and even now when one of my married kids comes over to visit they often times ask to search some rolls. We love it. The thrill and excitement of looking for hidden treasure and the celebration and the feeling of triumph when the treasure is found.

    My Bank run today...

I've never gotten a box of halves and so I went to Wells Fargo today because they told me they ordered one. I get there and they tell me that they misunderstood and got in Tyler dollars. I bought two. They said they had no idea if they could order halves....it just depended on what was available. HUH? Why can't my banks order them. I go to my credit union, no. Three other banks, they can't do it.

But my last two banks I have success. At the first, they have 21.5 rolls of log splitters. I clean them out. They also had one 2009 P dime. The next bank had halves, always have two boxes on hand (Yea!). I got one. I then asked about 2009 dimes/Nickels. They had 22 more 2009 P dimes. I put several up on ebay when I got home. I've only opened one half roll and it had one 40% 67.

    Great day!

Over the years I've had banks who were cooperative and others who were not. Right now, my banks, there are 3 in my local area, won't budge a finger to help. I'll ask about anything 2009 and they respond "I would have to look thru my change". Then they stare at me not doing it as I look around at a big empty bank with no customers. I still haven't seen one dime or nickel. The best bank was up in Indiana. They had plenty of everything and would let me drive around to the alley in the back and load my car from the vault door or a door close to the vault.

Well, I just searched through my very first box of half dollars. While I didn't get any Franklins or Walker, like a few others have posted, I'm pleased with what I found:

    2 - 1964 90%
    1 - 1965 40%
    1 - 1966 40%
    3 - 1967 40%

    :D

so I have a question. i picked up two boxes of cents this week. the first box had the standard two canadian coins three wheat cents. The second box is still sealed because it is all 2009 D log cabin cents. The question do i hold on to them until later this year and sale them or do I dump them on ebay now for a quick 150 bucks?

Great question to have to contemplate........I'd dump em if you can turn $25 into $150, why not?

ya I know its a good question. I guess does anyone think that they will ever be worth more than what they are now? I know the mintages are lower than years past, but 100 plus million is still a lot of coins, not rare in my book. But for some reason with this being said the price seams to be constant we it is at.

I doubt they'll ever be rare because of the mintages, and the amount of people hoarding them. They won't even be worth too much in high grades because of so many of them being put away.

I kind of think the price is going to start going down on those now. I would sell now.
