When is the last time you got a skunk box of halves??? I run 50% skunk rate on boxes of halves. You must be going through an old pallet of halves or there are some very silly people in your area who just keep on cashing in old silver. Congrats!

I admit it is a hot streak and you know what they say about streaks. We have done 14 boxes this month and had 2 skunk boxes. The last one was 5 boxes ago.

    Good Luck everyone

Got a box of halves yesterday and shock of all shocks, my first roll gifted me an XF 44 Walker. Then 2 rolls later I got a 63 Franklin and a 67 Kennedy. Then I found another 44 Walker, a 67, and a wickedly toned 68.

Very happy with this box. I haven't found jack in ages, certainly not a Walker. To find 2 in one box? I'm pleased as punch.

Oh, I forgot to mention. My bank charged me $25 for this box. I decided to pay it this time to see if it's worth it. It was worth it, so I ordered another. If I get a skunk I may have to rethink the fee.

$25 a box! Can't you find anyone else that will order?

  9. Thanks! It is the first one that I have found. I am still looking for a 1950p for my collection.

I've been getting free boxes (in brown wrappers) that continue to be skunks. The bank that gets the yellow boxes won't order them for me anymore. Only this bank will and they charge .50 a roll. Until I can find another bank to order me yellow boxes, I'm either stuck paying a fee or just not getting boxes.

You've had some good finds but after your first skunk or two you will sober up real fast on agreeing to pay such a high fee. The bank charging you so much is their way of saying they don't want to be bothered ordering boxes for you. A $25 fee for a box is the highest I have ever heard of, btw. Previously, the highest amount I have heard of is from one of my banks that wanted to charge me a $10 fee for a box of nickels. I walked out empty handed but at least the money in my wallet was intact.

Trust me, I will not be spending $25 a box for zero benefit.

I have never been charged a fee for a box of anything. I have only gotten one box of half dollars, I really have no place to get rid of them.

    Today's results:

    $5 Pennies: 82 Copper, 1951S, 1952D, 1958D, one Canadian-1945.

    $18 Nickles: 1947P, 1953D, 1957P, 5 extra.

    $25 Dimes: Skunk.

    $260 Quarters: Skunk.

    $10 Half dollars: Skunk.

Three boxes of halves: One was solid 2001 D, but the other two had two 87's and the best-disguised 40% I've seen so far. Can't post pics now, but stay tuned!
    $210 CWR halves: Nothing
    $3.50 loose halves: Nothing

Also picked up a 1930 Panama medio Balboa, along with some some other items, for just $10.

100 cwr halves, zip, s**t, haven't found silver in like a month!

    I did a box of pennies...Of 2500...701 Copper...14 Wheaties(oldest one 1929 S)...6 Canadian(one of which is a 67 Centennial penny). I think I found a 1970 S small date but its hard to tell.

I'm on the same page, I usually find 1 war nickel or buffalo per box. I never really seem to luck out and find more than 3 finds per box, and I've only found 2 V nickels this year.

They're a lot slower to search too, because you pretty much have to date check. I still do 2 boxes a week though, mostly to look for the few holes fillers I need for my album.

Nickels are a lot of fun to search, but only if you're in the mood. Whenever I force myself to search more than 2 boxes a week they really stop being fun for me lol
