Man, I'm happy for you all who keep scoring on halves but I am seriously getting jealous. Only 76 40%ers for the year, out of 18k searched. I go on mini road trips almost every saturday and sunday too, it is just skunk central around here when it comes to halves :(

Just got an offer for $1470 shipped for $200 face in 40% silver halves... should I take it?

With the price of silver the way it is, it's a pretty good deal. If I needed the money, I'd take it. It's alot harder getting rid of 40%ers, all the people I talk to want 90%.

This is through APMEX... dude I talked to said it would probably take a week for me to get the cash, so ehh... not too happy about that. Put 'em on CL and we'll see what kind of offers I get before I take theirs.

I searched 4 rolls of pennies and found nothing. How much rolls do you think I need to check to find a wheat penny? My three wheat pennies came from a coinstar machine (a 1935), and 2 1943 pennies from a coin store. Also, does anyone think that I could find anything from 1 roll of halves? Lastly, if I ask at a bank for old or silver coins, what do you think they will say?

do not ask for silver coins...ask for half dollars,it's your best bet for silver
Edit:last week i found a '64 Kennedy half last week from 2 rolls of halves,so it can happen even when not searching boxes at a time.

They will give you their silver, but only if your have silver certificates to exchange. They don't give silver out to people who only have federal reserve notes.

To check, look at the color of your bill. Blue is good, Green is bad.:D

Seriously, they can say anything. most probably, they will either have no clue what you are talking about, offer you "gold dollars", or say that someone already asks for that sort of thing/they keep it themselves.

Where are you located? That does make a big difference. Florida is the best location for these things.

Decided to test out a few banks in my surrounding towns...

    $50 CWR - 2x 40%
    $5 loose halves - skunk

Also picked up 3 rolls of nickels that I thought were BWRs, but someone had carefully opened one end, searched them, and folded it back over. This same bank also had $400 in halves but I'm pretty sure it's someone's dump, considering the nickels.

This week has been one of my worst weeks for CRH so far, with 3 skunk boxes of dimes in a row. I picked up 2 more boxes of dimes today to try and get my monthly total up, but we'll see :(

2 Rolls of Quarters - Skunk, except for 2 Bicentennials and a 1965 that sure sounded good when it hit the kitchen table.
1 Roll of Dimes - Skunk
6 Rolls of Pennies - 1 47-D, 1 canadian, and a really nice 1964. Two of the rolls were just shield cents.
1 Roll of Nickels - 46, two of the newer Jefferson's with the buffalo on them(I hardly ever see these).

..and I picked up 19 Ike's while I was at it. All 72-D.

Got my heart rate up for a minute with the 65 quarter, but otherwise, nothing too exciting.

Try ordering from a CU or something.

I bought fifteen rolls of quarters from a bank today. One roll was way overfilled and the teller even pointed it out. I told her it will help to make up for all of the times I have been shorted with rolls of quarters. Pictured is a normal roll of 40 quarters and underneath is the overfilled roll which turned out to have 50 quarters. I guess someone needs to do some remedial mathematics, lol. I found five extra quarters in the other rolls so I made $3.75 today just from the rolls being over. You don't get overages like this with BWRs so sometimes buying CWRs can work to your benefit.
