here's a silly question... what the deal with the pennies with the log cabins on the back? Are they worth more, any they a limited run... as I have no clue at all about them....


Still just barely have a clue about the halves I'm going thru.

There will be 4 2009 Pennies this year
Do not be fooled these pennies are not worth a whole lot, but do have the lowest mintage in some odd 40 years
Log Cabin is the first reverse
Formative Years second reverse
those are the two that have been released so far
Next one is in august and the next one is sometime later on in the year, near end of year

eisenhowers are everywhere where I'm at. Not rare at all. I look through them for fun sometimes. I have about $300 worth, which was the result of rejecting the uglier ones at about a 5:1 ratio.

 

I've NEVER...NEVER...EVER...FOR...EVER...NEVER...EVER..NEVER... Seen an IKE used in circulation, nor SBA's... HMMMM...
Only thing I've gotten that surprised me, is pres dollars in change at Taco Cabana

 

You must live by old people I have found a few at banks where majority of people I see going in have grey hair.

 

WHERE are you finding Ikes?

I've gotten one in the last 3 months (since I got back in to numismatics)

 

I got Ikes only once...got about 55 of them...kept one for each year and mint mark and took the rest of them back....I'm still missing a couple in the entire set...but never found any in any of the banks around here! The tellers get wide-eyed when I ask for Ikes!

I've never seen any dollar coins in circulation...I'm probably the only one in my area who uses them occasionally, often for small purchases like bread or something...cashiers usually look 2-3 times if i give them a SBA...just to make sure it is not a quarter!

 

The looks I get when I use presidential dollar coins cracks me up.

 

I need to start using them more!

 

Just searched 10 rolls of pennys. 7 log cabins and 1 canadian penny (1966)

Not a good night. (but there is always tomorrow)

And yes Travis, all 7 are Philly.....lol

 

I'm about to search 10-15 rolls of pennies today...will post if I find something. Meanwhile, I've posted pics of 2 of my best wheaties in a separate thread.

Been through 8 rolls of pennies...1 wheat (1951-D) but in pretty bad condition...and 2 canadian cents (1975 and 1982)...nothing else.

25 more rolls to go in this box..

Only search one roll of pennys today.....Nothing

I've now plucked 24 log cabins from rolls/circulation and 8 bu rolls. All P. LOL. 3 hours away, Travis has gotten what, 55, all D. This is really strange.

I searched through a bunch of dimes and found a 1946 silver one. my second silver dime this week!!!!

And I got a few more 2009P dimes.

at least you guys are finding 2009's ... or maybe you guys are finding ALL of them? i haven't found a single one, at banks or stores, for a 15 mile radius

 

I got 26 wheats including a 1928. All the others were 34-58. Got more than a roll of 40s/50s jeffersons and 2 1939's. Also filled two holes in my jefferson collection with a 1938-d and a 1951-s. I thought I did well!

 

Oh and I almost for got about the 3 log cabins!
