Found a 1999S Silver proof dime in a box this weekend. It almost looked like a foreign coin to me from the edge. It was thick and perfect, not like a typical worn silver coin, so I had a hard time figuring what it was before I pulled it from the roll. It has the frosted Roosie head with the mirror like background.

One of my goals year was to pull a modern silver proof, I did not specify it to be a dime or half dollar so I guess I accomplished the goal. Now onto a new goal of pulling a modern silver proof half, and a silver commen.

Merc is an awesome member of our community (except he keeps finding silver that should come my way.... ). I love that Merc will speak his mind and say things that need to be said that others are afraid to say. In all the posts I've read, he is always fair.

BEST BOX EVER!!!!

Of nickels, that is.....I have done only about 10-12 boxes of nickels and have found only 5 War Nicks and 2 buffalos. I did a box of nickels over the weekend and found 6 2009D, 1 39, 1 dateless buffalo and 3 War nicks. I know that isn't a ton, but it was landmark for me. I've never found more than 1 war nick in a box.

 

My bank told me today that I have to bring back the boxes that I search otherwise they'll have to start charging me. It also seemed like their was a lot of tension... I think a box of donuts may do the trick. I'm kinda worried that I'll start getting boxes that I've already searched though.

 

That sounds like the complete opposite from what I get. Bankers always say to me "I don't care what you do with them. Just don't bring them back here." lol Hope the donuts work to clear things up. I would think you would get the same boxes. Sounds like a weird thing for them to request.

 

My bank forgot to order for me for a couple weeks so instead of doing dimes, I golfed. Finally got some halves last week.

Two boxes of halves last Thursday -

Box 1 - 1 40%
Box 2 - 19 40%

 

$1000 bag of dimes, 7 roosies.
$750 boxed dimes, 1 roosie.

Got a partial bag of nickels and a box to do as well.

 

today wellsfargo told me they'd have to take my rolls and send them to be counted and credit my account after a week so i left and went to farmers and merchants who charged me 10 cents per roll....I guess i'm done searching,at least until i can find a free place to dump that doesn't take forever.

 

Box of dimes to day gave up 3 roosies - '64, '62, and '46 - as well as my first roosie ender!

Box of nickels had a real nice '36 Buff, probably an XF40 or so, as well as a war. The bag had a well-worn '20 and another war. 8 Roosies, 2 buffs, and 2 wars on the day, not bad. Unfortunately, the box of halves i picke dup was a skunk.

Two boxes of halves tomorrow, hopefully my good luck with halves that have been ordered locally will continue.

I wish I had some banks around here that got boxes in the beginning of the week, mine all come in wednesday-friday. Getting excited for my halves tomorrow !

The usually wheats from $20 in pennies except a 1924, which I needed.

Has anyone else been noticing a huge increase in the number of NIFC halves recently? Over the past few weeks I've noticed at least ten per box.

 

Try going to a different town. My pick-up banks north of me get their shipments on Tuesdays, my town is Thursdays, and south is Fridays. And it's the same even with different carrier services.

 

I forgot to mention....the 3 war nicks I found in that box yesterday were a 44P, 44D, and 44S......who cool is that?

I also found about 4 Canadian beaver 5 cent pieces as well.

Today I picked up a box of dimes and quickly searched through it because it was in clear plastic rolls. So I went down the street to another bank and picked up a half a box of nickels. Currently searching through them. One find in the first roll was a very cool world coin.....a 1992 Republika NG Phipinas 1 Piso with some big animal on the reverse.

 

5 cwr of halves... nothing. Picked up 3 ikes.

Thanks, it makes perfect sense now.

I just edge check and throw them in a bag, I must have come across a clad commen by now. Maybe I'll slow down and actually start looking at all the coins....
