    crispy1995 Spending Toms like crazy**

I went to a bank smaller than my house today and got a 1976 bicentennial, a 2001-D (Mint set only, right?), and a 1985-D.
I then got a roll from a different bank and found:

    1972-D
    1973
    1973-D
    (2) 1974
1974-D (The D is rather small)
    1976-D
    1976
    (2) 1979-P
    (2) 1983-P
    1984-P
    1988-P
    (2) 1990-P
    1991-P
    1993-P
    1995-P
    1996-P

    A few days before, I found a 1968, 1976, and one from the 80's.
Any chance that these halves will go up in value, what with the lack of spending?

I turned in my bag full of 1,200 Kennedys. Or should I say 1,197.
Out of twelve hundred half dollars I just found three 40% halves.

Today I got 30 rolls from a different bank. One 1965 (first 1965 I ever found), one 1966, two 1969 Ds and a 2001D kind of banged up. Most of them look good, never went to the Connecticut casinos.
So good in fact that I am saving most of them. I guess I'll put them up in rolls by year.
Two 1974 halfs qre so brilliant they look prooflike. This stash must have been in a bank vault for decades.

Just complete searching another two boxes of Halves and it resulted in two 40% Kennedys. Some weeks are better than others.

After almost two weeks of the usual canadian and common date wheatback cents, I finally got a nice one again today :) A 1933 George V Canadian Cent.

One of the ladies at my bank let me know she got some coins in I might be interested in, so over the weekend I went to see her. Someone had cashed in $100 in Ikes and about $200 in halves. I got 9 rolls of halves to search. My results were pretty good, I ended up with one 63 Franklin, Four 64 Kennedy's and a complete roll of 65-69 kennedy's. I'll have to go back and grab the rest of the halves to look through.:)

I have been searching $50 bags of pennies from the bank for almost 8 months and nearly a quarter million now. The best I found up to date was a nice 1931 D and a 1969 S CUD that was quite nice. Then last week, I had a friend come over and we talked about coins and when I went to do my banking I decided I'd do a bag of pennies for the weekend. Oh am I glad I did - I found a 1998 Wide AM right off the bat and then this baby - a 1984 Lincoln Double Die Obverse (double ear) error!!! I'm generically grading the coin at MS 62 or 63 ... I'm a pretty accurate grader, but don't hold my word for it. Attached is a picture of the error. Wow - this literally made my month! My kids want me to sell it - little do they know I almost paid $300 for one of these babies in mint condition! There is no way I can part with it - probably ever. I have a 1909 S VDB and a MS - 64 Flying Eagle penny I bought, but this 1984 Lincoln Double Ear is my absolute favorite, because I found it. Value is roughly $90-$150 I estimate and all I paid for it was a penny! hehehe Maybe not even that much, since the very first coin I pulled out of the bag was a dime! lol Seriously, the first coin I took out of the bag of pennies was a dime and I had to double check they didn't give me dimes by mistake. They didn't, but that bag was magical!! I also found 12 wheat pennies in that bag, which is below average, but several were old in the teens and the 1936 D might be AU condition. All I can say is what FOUNDINROLLS told me .... Study up so you know what you are looking for, but most importantly DO NOT GIVE UP. The coins will come, you just have to keep at it :)

    Take Care - Esky

:) Just completed searching through two boxes of halves and had a much better time than last week, in fact the best week that I've had in some time. The hunt resulted in finding 11 40% halves, 1 90% Kennedy and a halve dozen AU halves that will upgrade other ones in my collection. All in all a good evening.

I get $100 in cents monthly, and this past month has really been dry :( But, I've only been focusing on cherrypicking the zincs and wheatbacks. I still have thousands of copper cents to peruse through. I just got another $50 yesterday, and started going through them today. I finally got another interesting find :D

I unwrapped the wrapper, and lo and behold, there was something silvery and shiny! So I picked it up and I found myself with a new addition to my Every Coin of the 20th Century collection...a 1996 Ireland 5 Pence in AU condition! This is the first European coin I have found EVER searching through rolls. I'm still waiting to find me one of my cherrypicks: 1983 DDR, 1984 DDO, 1992 Close AM, 1995 DDO, 1998- Wide AM.

Got myself $500 in halves also. VERY dry this run! Ended up with a few junk silver, possibly a DDO, and two RPMs. The first RPM I am very interested in. In a few months I'll send it out to have it researched and authenticated maybe. It appears to be a D/P or D/P/D 1984, which does not appear in CONECA's database.

Finished going through the second set of $50 in cents. Got a circulted purple toning 1983 and a very nice bullseye toning 2005D cents, uncirculated, 9 wheatback cents, 21 Canadian cents, and that 5 pence from Ireland. I've accumulated maybe another 2000 copper cents in the process also that still need to be gone through. Maybe I'll have better luck next time :kewl:

Well, after searching several boxes of nickels and pennies. Trying my hand at halves. Got my first two boxes today. Just getting started, but after 10 rolls already have 10 40% silver halves and a 97S. Also see 4 rolls of the next 15 with silver on top(one being a 64'). Nice start I would say. I am ready to order two more boxes. My only concern is getting rid of them all. Not sure if the coin machines at my bank will take halves. The clad coins are a little more beat up than I would have anticipated to be so lightly circulated. Will keep you posted on the totals.

How much does a box of halves run? I have been getting some rolls here and there, but never anything in large quantities. Thanks.

I got three 1964 JFK's in about 12 coins that the teller had in his till at Wells Fargo, I'm going back tomorrow earlier to pick up a couple of rolls (apparently most banks lock up most of their rolls after 3pm in the safe and the tellers arent allways allowed to go get them). So then I took the JFK's I didnt want to keep and swapped them out at a gas station and went over to First National and picked up 4 more pre-65 halves.
