Geez, has your brain petrified? You don't know that it is the Ancients forum until you have already opened it. Give your brain a chance to thaw out.

PS. Yes, I can be rude to people who act like mummified dummies.

    Within ancients only:

    • Idle thoughts of a 12 Caesars set.
    • A dab of Biblical coinage
    • 2nd century silver, specifically coins of Antoninus Pius. I really love when I can nab a rarity just because he's such a "common" emperor.
But, pretty much, if it's a coin, and I both like and can afford it, I'll collect it. :)

Now I've gone and done it. He's crying!

Just out of curiosity, how polite would you continue to be to someone who kept complaining about your products in front of other customers? Yeah, I know. You would turn the other cheek while all your potential customers walked out the door.

If 'modern' posters are going to be too lazy to consult the forums page to know where they are when reading, they should not be upset when they find a post that does not include them. After all, we are the fourth largest 'group' based on the number of topics (excluding the generic 'coin chat'), and we are approaching the time we will surpass error coins. Time to accept the fact that we are here.

I don't actively collect ancients, but I specifically collect coins with the bust of Jesus Christ, or mention of him on them. I have three to my name and two came from a very generous ancients collector. When I settle down a few years from now, I intend to chase more of them.

You could always go medieval European:

    Or ancient/medieval Asian:

Actually have a few hammered English kings and sent an Edward I coin I bought from @DysfunctionalVeteran to my sister for Christmas (she thinks we are related). I also have modern and just plain old coins...anything interesting.

A unique experience, being only the third Dutchman in a thread!

My first and oldest interest is Sassanian coins, their Parthian predecessors and very much so their many imitations until about 1000 AD.
My second interest is Central Asia from about 100-1300 AD.
My third interest, and very seriously pursued, is the Roman Empire, with extra attention for Greek issues.
Fourth but not least is the oldest coinage from where I'm living: Celtic coins, sceattas and early medieval.

In all this, I love style and nice portraits, be they realistic or barbarous. To me, coins are works of art, not only signs of history.

Yeah, let's get rid of "Recent Topics". It serves no purpose for the "Ancient Mariners".
