That's no fun. I've never encountered any river god in this professional and full position of swimming as on this coin reverse. It was struck under Alexander Severus in Antioch ad Orontem. River god Orontes seems even moving his legs to push forward in swimming. Tyche, as usual is there in this famous series. Coin weighs 16.28 g.
    Watch.. Please.

I love the feel of them in the hand... So big! And the reverse is so busy with things going on! Love it!

My river god isn't as swimmy as yours.

This one has no waves either. Autonomous, Yes.. But it's thought that these issues were struck under the consent of Maximinus II. The latter was later attacked by Constantine the Great. Max2Apol.jpg Max2TycOr.jpg

Antioch was his principal residence the year that these were struck.

@VC.. That's right. By that time as well, Maximinus II was accused by Constantine of secretly approving the massacres against the Christians in Antioch at that period. His fate was the same as Maxentius. I meant to reveal in what circumstances those issues were struck.

Here's a River god! He has to stay out of the water for at least 30 minutes because he just pigged out and ate all of his cornucopia contents.
