Whats on lincolns forehead?

 

I'm confused because it says "rim error"...?

What's on his forehead? It appears to be some gunk.

 

It appears to be gunk? Im fairly new to this but i see something different just putting it out there for all you coin pros opinion on what you may see

 

You know that these are zinc plated iron and any pits that might develop can allow the iron to rust. That's kind of like what it looks like.

 

Yes, I'm assuming you mean the dark spot. It's either gunk or rust but either way, it's nothing out of the ordinary, just some environmental damage.

 

I think when he says "rim error?" he means the uneven thickness caused by a slight misaligned die.
