Rhodesia was briefly an independent state in southern Africa from 1964 to 1979. It had previously been known as Southern Rhodesia, a British possession, and the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. It is now known as Zimbabwe. Rhodesia 5 Cents 1964 Rhodesia declared independence from England but kept the Queen on its coins. Rhodesia 10 Cents 1964 Rhodesia 20 Cents 1964 Rhodesia 25 Cents 1964 Rhodesia 1 Cent 1970 The Queen is now gone.
It's my understanding that Rhodesia left the Commonwealth shortly after declaring independence which is why the Queen disappeared from their coinage. Of course they had the minority government in place and became the pariah of southern Africa until the majority government tookover in 1980 - and the pariah label passed on to South Africa. Now Zimbabwe is run by the same now 92 year old Robert Mugabe and is once again the pariah for being run by a dictator.
