Interesting that a coin now has demand but Frank had to list it on his 'going cheaply' list to sell it. There are still two X6 examples yet untaken and a couple on vCoins but I prefer mine. I suppose one of the more mathematically inclined among us could calculate the original size of the statue and subtract 900 camels' worth as a remainder and figure the maximum mintage of all varieties of these. I see quite a variation in style of what is available so I suspect these were made for quite a while. Mine came with the date range of 'Julio Claudians' and I do not know if there is any closer dating than that.
I just bought an example from Steve’s collection, which I think was for a good price at under $100 shipped. Best I could find available anyway. These are described as featuring Dionysus, but I wonder if it is a conflation of Helios and Dionysus, because on some examples one finds just the radiate crown (Helios) or just the ivy (Dionysus), but this has both.
