If you don't buy this coin while you can, you will wind up spending a whole lot more!! Just my opinion.
Of course these will experience a pull back now that the flippers have moved onto the RP Truman coin and the issues that will follow. Long term though I think the dimes will eventually settle out OK. Especially with the push the mint seems to be making on RP everything. Which I'm sure will inevitably lead to registry sets/points that will follow via TPG's further increasing those looking to obtain complete RP sets.
You know, speaking of registry sets, think about the Presidential Dollars and all of the various finishes that the Mint has offered over the life span of the program. From "satin finish" Mint Set coins, to circulation strikes, proofs and now reverse proofs, what a total hodge podge set to complete!
Reluctant, but you did, right? As for the MoD Set Dimes, sheesh, there's over 400 listed on eBay. So, the flippers are flipping like crazy. Won't take long for 75k dimes to get absorbed into collections. Then what happens to the price? With that many on the market, I'm surprised the prices are still as strong as they are, guess dimes with that low a mintage just aren't going to ever sell for much less. And, let's face it, those raw sets are probably picked over low grades.
Well, ordered and received 2 sets of the MoD Silver set in a handsome black case and screwed up the photos
Wow, just checked eBay. Most raw set sales are in the low to mid $80 range some with free shipping. Not a lot of profit being made on these sales with seller fees, etc. If you want a cheap set, now is the time to buy.
Collectors are nuts. Just looking at completed auctions on eBay and found that the 2 raw dimes sell for more than a raw 3 coin set. What's up with that?
Depends on what you like. Some like coins that go right from the mint to the collector, some don't. Some proof coins go for a lot, some not so much. Personally I like coins that had some history. The coin below even thought it is damaged could have been worn around the next of a civil war soldier or hung in a house built in the 19th century after it was involved in other stories.
Maybe he didn't want to fool with selling it. Maybe he is starting a roll of them like you said you were going to do. How's that roll coming btw?
