I like these rugged, scarred Vespasians... they just suit him for some reason. I think I lost a coin when I was sorting out a group lot sometime this year. I had written its number on an envelope and thought I put the coin in. The next time I checked, the envelope was empty. Now, I can't be sure if I actually lost the coin or imagined its existence. I'm still keeping the empty envelope in the hope it'll turn up one day.
Pish, I'm so glad you found Vespy!! I had 'misplaced' two RR coins and was frantically searching for them for several days....It turned out I merely 'misfiled' them in my Album while rearranging it. More of a 'senior moment' than a loss I suppose My contribution to a Vespasian post:
i'll be darned, well i'm glad you found it. we have a chair that must have a black hole in it somewhere...it's sucked up all sorts of stuff never to be sen again. i've only lost a couple coins. one was an uncleaned coin that i dropped and slipped between the boards on my back deck. i assume it's still down there somewhere, but not going to worry about it for what is in all likelihood a 4th century slug. i also had cleaned up a ancient chinese coin, was sun baking on my deck do dry in an aluminum pie pan. big gust of wind flipped it to god knows where, i assume it's also under my deck or in the yard somewhere. all summer i was waiting to hear a claing while i mowed. it was a 3 buck coin...so no biggie.
You just reminded me of a Gallienus 'zoo series' coin I dropped between the boards of my back yard deck as well...Somehow, the lady of the house did not agree that I should tear up the boards for a $10.00 coin...Go figure LOL
I'm still looking for that cheese sandwich that went missing last month on my couch. Of course, it could have been the Bully. I'm not giving up hope just yet.
Didn't know chairs and armchairs could swallow coins that easy ! I will never sit on any of them while coining anymore.... Q
